Abstract

This study explores the role of women in the Catholic Church based on the apostolic letter Mulieris Dignitatem by Pope John Paul II. The research is rooted in the historical and social developments that have shaped women's position within the Church. Its objective is to identify and understand the Church’s theological perspective on women’s dignity, vocation, and contribution within family, society, and the Body of Christ. The method employed is a literature review, analyzing Church documents, theological literature, and relevant academic articles. The findings reveal that women possess equal dignity to men and have an irreplaceable role, particularly through their maternal qualities, sensitivity, and active participation in Church life. Nevertheless, structural limitations still hinder women from holding ecclesiastical leadership roles. The study concludes by emphasizing the need for further reflection and more inclusive implementation of Mulieris Dignitatem to strengthen the role of women in the modern Catholic Church.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of Catholic Religious Education (CRE) teachers in diaconal engagement at St. Joseph Parish, Delitua. A mixed-method approach was used, combining qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews with CRE teachers, priests, and pastoral leaders, as well as participatory observation during liturgical and social activities. Quantitative data were collected through questionnaires evaluating the frequency and types of CRE teachers’ involvement in church ministry. The results of the study indicate that time constraints, motivation, and lack of community support are the main barriers to implementing diaconal values by teachers. Nevertheless, involvement in diakonia has a positive impact on their teaching quality and spiritual experience. This research provides recommendations to strengthen support and training in order to enhance CRE teachers’ participation in church ministry and the development of diaconal spirituality.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the role of young people as an integral and active part of contemporary church life based on theological approaches and Christian spirituality in the light of the apostolic document Christus Vivit by Pope Francis. This research uses a library research method with primary data in the form of Catholic Church documents, especially Christus Vivit, as well as relevant theological and pastoral references. The analysis technique is done through textual study and theological reflection. The results of the study show that young people are seen as subjects of the Church today who have great potential in realizing spiritual and pastoral renewal. Their spirituality is shaped by a personal relationship with the living Christ, active involvement in the community, and a missionary spirit. The findings confirm that the Church needs to open a wider space for the involvement of young people as part of the dynamics of evangelization in the midst of the challenges of the times.
