Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of women's communication in stimulating microeconomic growth in the batik-producing area of Pekalongan. The research employs a qualitative field approach with a focus on public communication. Primary data were collected through interviews with female batik workers from home industries to factories, using snowball sampling to identify informants based on predefined indicators. The data were then filtered through the lens of development communication and documented accordingly. Data analysis followed the stages of data collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that women play a significant role in improving the standard of living in Pekalongan. This is reflected in the regional income growth, which increased from 3.59% in 2021 to 5.76% in 2022. Women's participation takes various forms, such as selling batik through digital platforms, contributing to batik design and sewing, and sharing their skills with others in the community. These activities not only enhance their craftsmanship but also support household income and contribute to regional economic development. Additionally, informal knowledge-sharing among neighborhoods fosters financial independence and specialized skills among women. Overall, women's communication practices in the batik industry demonstrate strong potential in driving sustainable local economic empowerment.

Abstract

Bidaah, a Malaysian drama series that premiered on the Viu platform on March 6, 2025, has sparked public attention for its bold portrayal of religious deviation led by a charismatic figure. The show’s sensitive theme has generated diverse reactions from Indonesian audiences, making it a compelling subject for scholarly analysis. This study aims to examine Indonesian public sentiment toward the series on social media. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the research utilized Brand24, a digital monitoring tool, to collect data from various social media platforms. Public comments and opinions were analyzed to identify recurring patterns and sentiment tendencies. The findings indicate that positive sentiment (860 mentions) outweighed negative sentiment (587 mentions), suggesting that most Indonesian netizens responded to Bidaah’s depiction of religious deviation with openness rather than rejection. This study highlights the importance of digital public discourse analysis in understanding societal reactions to religious media content, and demonstrates the relevance of social monitoring technologies in contemporary communication research.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the role of students in Islamic boarding schools in coloring information in the digital world so that the information produced is truly validated and to build the credibility of citizen journalism. The methodology used by the author is library research with a descriptive approach from a postpositivist perspective, namely observing all Islamic boarding school activities naturally and then explaining them in the form of descriptions, while for analysis, the author uses Miles Huberman data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The author's research shows that the educational activities developed by this Islamic boarding school are ideal for meeting the requirements of citizen journalists. Because being a journalist not only requires knowledge of the tools but also the building of the information that will be conveyed. In Islamic boarding schools a person is taught science (Nahwu), Tool Science (Sharf), Arabic, Fiqh, Hadith, Akhlaq, Tarikh, Tajwid, Ulumul Qur'an, Ulumul Hadith, Ushul Fiqh, and Sufism. These sciences are able to support a person's knowledge in processing and producing information. Tool science can help someone skillfully write information to the public, by collaborating with religious sciences as a basis for considering morality, appropriateness, and even the effectiveness of messages.
