Abstract

The main issue faced by BSI Farm is the suboptimal quality control at each stage of hydroponic kale production, resulting in inconsistent product quality. This study aims to analyze the quality of hydroponic kale products at BSI Farm using the input-process-output (IPO) approach. The analysis covers all stages of production, from the selection of superior seeds, nutrient and water management, cultivation using the NFT (Nutrient Film Technique) system, to harvesting and packaging. The results show that the implementation of strict quality control at each stage successfully produces fresh, clean, pesticide-free kale that meets modern market standards. Production waste is managed through a grading system and utilized as animal feed to minimize environmental impact. The main challenges include pest attacks, plant diseases, and inconsistent harvests due to a lack of standardized procedures. However, these can be addressed through regular monitoring, appropriate use of pesticides and fungicides, and consistent implementation of cultivation SOPs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the price elasticity of demand and supply of local lemon oranges in Indonesia, a key horticultural commodity. The data used are historical records of prices and demand in Sleman Regency (2003–2006), as well as consumption and supply in Medan City (2010–2011). The research adopts a quantitative approach using price elasticity analysis with the midpoint formula. The results show that demand is inelastic (Ed < 1), meaning that price changes do not significantly affect lemon demand. On the other hand, supply is elastic (Es > 1), indicating a strong producer response to price changes. These findings are essential for price-setting strategies, production increase planning, and managerial decision-making in maintaining the stability of local lemon supply and prices in the domestic market.

Abstract

This review expIores the key factors infIuencing consumer decision-making and provides impIications for corporate strategies in the tea industry. Buyer preferences for tea products are IargeIy driven by a combination of sensory attributes (e.g. taste and aroma), packaging, branding, and perceptions about the heaIth and sustainabiIity vaIue of the product. According to Tenadi and Ervina (2024), RTD (ready-to-drink) tea consumers prefer sweet tastes and attractive aromas over bitter and astringent tastes. This finding is supported by Mufida and Noorhad (2023) who reveaIed that teenagers tend to choose additionaI toppings such as tapioca and Iarger gIasses of miIk tea, indicating that consumers tend to prefer a stimuIating and interesting drinking experience. Meanwhile, consumers aIso show great interest in innovative and heaIthy products. SipaheIut's (2020) study reveaIed that tea with added nutmeg extract can increase consumer interest in IocaIIy produced products. A simiIar view was expressed by FisIi et aI. (2023) who found that the combination of Iemon fIavor, brown coIor, and price beIow IDR 20,000 can increase purchasing interest in Sungkai tea drinks.
