Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of teachers in fostering literary appreciation through poetry reading activities in the lower grades of Kesaud State Elementary School (SDN), Serang City. Literature, especially poetry, has great potential in shaping sensitivity, enriching vocabulary, and fostering children's imagination and empathy. However, literature learning at the elementary level is often still textual and less interesting for students. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews with grade I and II teachers, and documentation of the learning process. The results of the study show that teachers act as facilitators, motivators, and models in expressing poetry expressively and enjoyably. Teachers who use communicative poetry reading methods, such as rhythmic reading, body movements, and facial expressions, have been shown to be able to attract students' attention and increase their interest in literature. In addition, student involvement in rereading favorite poems is also an effective strategy in fostering a love for literary works. This study recommends the importance of teacher training in creative poetry reading techniques and the provision of relevant and interesting children's literature teaching materials. Thus, literary appreciation among elementary school students can be instilled early on through a fun and meaningful approach

Abstract

Learning Indonesian in elementary schools requires an approach that is not only cognitive but also contextual and adaptive to current developments. Banten's local wisdom, rich in noble values such as respect for nature, social solidarity, and ethical communication, offers significant potential for integration into learning. Furthermore, the computational thinking (CT) approach, which emphasizes logical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, is increasingly relevant in 21st-century education. This literature study aims to explore the synergy between Banten's local wisdom values and CT principles in Indonesian language learning at the elementary school level. This research employed a qualitative approach based on literature review, reviewing various articles, journals, books, and recent educational documents. The study's findings indicate that the synergy between local values and CT can improve literacy skills and critical thinking skills, as well as foster adaptive student character while remaining rooted in local culture. Local wisdom values can be used as context for CT assignments such as narrative algorithms and the decomposition of regional story texts. This study recommends the systematic integration of local culture into CT-based learning within the Indonesian language curriculum and learning strategies.

Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence technology, particularly deep learning, opens up new opportunities for developing Indonesian language and literature literacy at the elementary school level. Furthermore, local wisdom, as part of the nation's cultural identity, holds significant potential for strengthening literacy learning that is contextual, meaningful, and relevant to children's lives. This article presents a literature review on the synergy between deep learning and local wisdom in developing Indonesian language and literature literacy in elementary school children. Deep learning plays a role in providing technology-based learning media, such as interactive applications, automatic text analysis, and reading recommendation systems that can be tailored to children's abilities. Meanwhile, local wisdom provides content rich in cultural, moral, and social values, enabling children not only to acquire literacy skills but also to foster a sense of national identity and character. The review shows that the integration of these two aspects can create an adaptive, creative, and inclusive literacy ecosystem. Literacy is understood not only as reading and writing skills but also as a means of strengthening imagination, critical thinking, and cross-cultural understanding. This study emphasizes the need for a collaborative approach between deep learning technology and local wisdom to improve the quality of Indonesian language and literature learning in elementary schools, while simultaneously preparing a literate, character-driven, and globally competitive golden generation.

Abstract

The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum emphasizes the importance of contextual and project-based learning, including in Indonesian language learning at the elementary school level. However, the reality in the field shows that many teachers still have difficulty in implementing this approach optimally. This community service activity aims to provide assistance to teachers at SDN Bama 3 so that they are able to design and implement Indonesian language learning based on literacy projects effectively and in accordance with the characteristics of students. The method of implementing the activity consists of initial observation, intensive training, learning simulations, and direct assistance in planning and implementing literacy projects in the classroom. The results of this activity show an increase in teachers' understanding of the concept of project-based learning, the ability to design literacy-based teaching tools, and high enthusiasm in integrating creative reading and writing activities into Indonesian language learning. Students also showed more active involvement and interest in literacy activities. Thus, this assistance makes a positive contribution to improving the quality of Indonesian language learning at SDN Bama 3. In the future, similar programs can be expanded to other schools to strengthen a culture of literacy from an early age.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of using children's literature based on Bantenese local wisdom on elementary school students' reading comprehension. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method using a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The study subjects were 60 fifth-grade elementary school students, consisting of 30 in the experimental group and 30 in the control group. The experimental group received reading instruction using children's literature based on Bantenese local wisdom, while the control group used conventional reading materials from Indonesian language textbooks. Data collection techniques included reading comprehension tests, observation, and documentation. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics with independent samples t-tests after meeting prerequisite tests for normality and homogeneity. The results showed that students' reading comprehension skills in the experimental group improved significantly compared to the control group. The average score for the experimental group increased from 62.10 in the pretest to 82.35 in the posttest, while the control group's score increased from 61.75 to 70.40. The results of the hypothesis test showed a t-value of 8.21 with a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference between the two groups. This finding indicates that the use of children's literature based on Bantenese local wisdom is effective in improving elementary school students' reading comprehension skills. The integration of stories containing local cultural values not only improves students' literacy skills but also strengthens their understanding of regional cultural values.
