Abstract

The role of a producer in video feature production is central. This report aims to examine the management of the production prosess by the producer, starting from the pre production, production, and post production stages to ensure that the branding massage is optimally delivered to the target audience. The producer is not only in charge of formulating the concept and coordinating the production team, but also has the main responsibility in harmonizing the creative and technical aspects to produce an interesting and relevant video. The digital distribution strategy through the TikTok social media platform is a breakthrough in branding MSMEs amidst increasingly fierce competition with outside industries. The effectiveness of producer’s role in video feature production depends not only on managerial skills, but also on understanding digital trends and consumer behaviour, so as to create content that has maximum appeal and impact in building the MSME brand.

Abstract

Shooting in a video feature requires the right cinematographic strategy to build emotional closeness between the audience and the subject. The creation of “Perempuan di Balik Asap Cerutu” raises the story of female cigar-rolling workers using a cinematographic approach that emphasizes close-up and handheld techniques. The close-up technique is used to create emotional intimacy through detailed expressions and the subject’s activities, while the handheld technique gives a spontaneous and realistic impression, as if the audience is present in the event. This work aims to build an emotional connection between the audience and the subject, thus evoking empathy and public concern for the fate of female workers in Indonesia. Through a work that delivers a story capable of stirring emotions, it also highlights the lives of working women who are rarely represented in the media. The production process is divided into three stages: pre-production (research, observation, concept development), production (shooting using cinematographic techniques), and post-production (footage selection and audio-visual editing). The use of close-up and handheld techniques not only functions aesthetically, but also reflects the creator’s empathetic attitude toward the subject (ethical), and supports a more touching and human narrative delivery (narrative).

Abstract

The presence of social media, especially Instagram, is a blessing for Muslim content creators in teaching Islamic da’wah history. The textual, visual, and auditory features in Instagram allow them to create educational content that can bridge Islamic history information and modern understanding, making it easier to understand and not boring. This study examines an Instagram account @gen.saladin in creating creative means of Islamic history education. Using qualitative content analysis and a media ecology approach, the results of the study have revealed that to create creative educational content about Islamic history, @gen.saladin emphasizes the use of contemporary terms, mentioning film titles, song lyrics, or current news when discussing topics of Islamic da’wah history. Hence, it appears more relevant and interesting to the audience.

Abstract

Industri cerutu memberikan kontribusi besar terhadap penerimaan devisa negara dengan nilai jual yang tinggi di pasar domestik maupun internasional. Namun, di balik kemewahan nilai tersebut, terdapat kontras yang mencolok dengan realita kehidupan para buruh cerutu, khususnya perempuan. Di Temanggung, mereka bekerja dalam rutinitas pabrik yang menuntut ketelitian dan ketahanan, sambil menjalani peran ganda sebagai ibu rumah tangga. Realita tersebut diangkat dalam video feature berjudul "Perempuan di Balik Asap Cerutu", yang menyoroti keseharian dan perjuangan mereka secara mendalam. Maka dari itu, gaya penulisan human interest digunakan sebagai pendekatan naratif, karena mampu menghadirkan cerita secara emosional dan personal, serta menggugah empati audiens terhadap subjek yang diangkat. Melalui pendekatan ini, pesan sosial yang disampaikan terasa lebih hidup dan dekat, memungkinkan audiens memahami kompleksitas peran dan beban yang diemban para buruh perempuan secara lebih menyeluruh.   Kata kunci: video feature, buruh cerutu, industri cerutu, human interest, penulisan naskah, gaya penulisan

Abstract

Women who wear hijab are one of the marginalized groups. Islamic-majority countries like Indonesia even have a long history of hijab, which was even banned during the Orde Baru era. The phenomenon of women wearing hijab has become a concern for society, religious communities, the government, and including academics, especially in media studies. This research discusses how the development of the study of the representation of women wearing hijab in mass media in Indonesia. Using Ridley's systematic literature review method to collect 10 scientific literature documents related to the representation of women wearing hijab in the mass media. 10 scientific literature documents then underwent data extraction with 6 categories, namely: focus of discussion, media objects, methods and data analysis, theories used, research results, and suggestions. The results of the study suggest that mass media construction of women wearing hijab depends on the ideology of the media so that the media's point of view varies. There are media that see hijab as a symbol of piety, fashion, domestic sphere, stereotypes, challenges, and freedom of human rights. This indicates that the issue of women wearing hijab can still be studied in mass media that adhere to different ideologies.
