Abstract

The objectives of the research were to describe process of increasing students’ vocabulary using Jumbled Words Media of SMPN 3 Bambel. The research methodology was classroom action research (CAR). The implementation of classroom action research was conducted in cycles 1. There were cycle I consisted of four meetings. This research involved eighth grade students which consisted of 23 students. The instrument of the research was data collecting technique, the data were tests (pre-test and post-tests), and questionnaire. The result of this research showed that there was a significant difference of the students’ achievement in pre-test and post-test. The average score of pre-test was 42.60%, while, after giving treatment in cycle I, the students average score in post-test I was 70%. It proved that mean score of both are very different. It means that Jumbled Word Media improves students’ vocabulary ability. Moreover, based on the analysis of the questionnaire, most of the students gave positive response (90%). Almost all students agreed that Jumbled Word strategy improves their ability in vocabulary and most of them said that Jumbled Word strategy were very helpful.

Abstract

A Thesis English Education Department the Faculty of Teachers Training and Education, stkip us Kutacane.The aim of the research was to find out The Effectiveness of Using Time Token (TT) Model To Improve Student Speaking Skills at VII grade MTs Swasta Nurul Islam Academic Year 2023-2024. The population of this study consists of all 25 students in Class VII, with a sample size of 25 students. The research method employed is an experimental method with a one-group pretest and posttest design, and data analysis using the "t" test. The initial test results show that students had an average score of 46.8, categorized as less satisfactory, with a standard deviation of 6.14. There was an improvement in the final test scores, with an average score of 78.28, categorized as good, and a standard deviation of 5.41. Based on the initial and final test results, and considering the passing grade (KKM) for English in high school is 70, Improve Student Speaking Skills is classified as good. The hypothesis testing yields a t-value of 17.20, compared with the t-table value at a 5% significance level (1.711). As a result, the hypothesis is accepted (17,20> 1.711)In conclusion, there The Effectiveness of Using Time Token (TT) Model To Improve Student Speaking Skills at VII grade MTs Swasta Nurul Islam Academic Year 2023-2024.

Abstract

This study deals with the used crossword puzzle game to improve student’s vocabulary at class VIII SMPS Muhammadiyah 15 Kutacane Academic Year 2023/2024. Its objective is to find out whether the used crossword puzzle game has a significance effect in vocabulary . Population used in this study of class VIII were 25 and samples used in this study were 25 students. The method used in this study is an experimental method with a one group as test design .This study was carried on using quantities method. The data was analysed by using t-test. Researcher find mark t test count amounting to 8,75 Furthermore consulted with t table value on level significant 5 % with db= N -1= 25-1= 24, then obtained t table value = 1,96. So with so t count > t table or 8,52>1,96 then hypothesis accepted. With the mode obtained being a value of 88 which was the most obtained by 9 students in class VIII.Based on the data from the test results on the ability to increase vocabulary and if it is related to the KKM score for English subjects for junior high school = 65. So the students' ability to increase vocabulary through crossword puzzle game is included in the good category. Thus, from the results of the hypothesis testing above, it can be concluded that there is the use of crossword puzzle game file to student vocabulary abilities at class VIII SMPS Muhammadiyah 15 kutacane Academic Year 2023/2024.
