Abstract

This research is based on the importance of preserving local culture as part of national identity and character education in elementary schools. Nyadran, a Javanese cultural tradition, holds great potential as an etnopedagogical learning resource that teaches social values, spirituality, and local wisdom to students. The purpose of this study is to explore the potential of Nyadran culture as a source of learning within the educational context of elementary schools and to identify strategies for integrating it into the curriculum.This research employs a qualitative approach with an exploratory design. The subjects include teachers, students, and community figures involved with the Nyadran tradition in a specific area. Data collection was conducted through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of Nyadran cultural activities.The results indicate that Nyadran culture possesses educational values related to character building, spirituality, and communal harmony, which are highly relevant to instill in students. The use of this culture as a learning resource can be implemented through direct activities such as Nyadran ceremonies, recitation of prayers, and storytelling of ancestral tales presented in an engaging and contextual manner.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional issue that affects children's physical growth and development, particularly during the first 1,000 days of life. Although the national stunting prevalence decreased to 19.8% in 2024, this figure remains far from the national target. This article explores the potential of Taman Ndulang in RW 03, Dukuh Ngerangan, Jogosetran Village, Klaten, as a community education space to support stunting prevention efforts. This study uses a qualitative approach with a systematic literature review method, analyzing various studies related to community interventions and nutrition education. The aim of this research is to describe strategies for community empowerment through participatory and enjoyable open-environment-based education, particularly to increase parents’ knowledge and awareness of the importance of proper nutrition and parenting practices.The results show that utilizing open spaces as educational tools such as reading corners, nutrition murals, healthy cooking practices, and interactive counseling can enhance parents’ knowledge and engagement, especially among mothers. Experience-based and participatory learning models are considered more effective than formal approaches. Supporting studies in other regions also demonstrate that community interventions can significantly reduce stunting rates. Therefore, optimizing the function of public parks as contextual and engaging educational centers holds great potential to support the national stunting reduction program sustainably and can be replicated in other areas with appropriate local adaptations. Keywords: Stunting, Taman Ndulang, Community education   Abstrak Stunting merupakan permasalahan gizi kronis yang berdampak pada pertumbuhan fisik dan perkembangan anak, terutama dalam 1.000 hari pertama kehidupan. Meskipun prevalensi stunting nasional menurun menjadi 19,8% pada tahun 2024, angka tersebut masih jauh dari target nasional. Artikel ini mengkaji potensi Taman Ndulang di RW 03, Dukuh Ngerangan, Desa Jogosetran, Klaten, sebagai ruang edukasi komunitas dalam mendukung pencegahan stunting. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode literature review sistematis terhadap berbagai studi terkait intervensi komunitas dan edukasi gizi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mendeskripsikan strategi pemberdayaan masyarakat melalui edukasi berbasis lingkungan terbuka yang partisipatif dan menyenangkan, khususnya untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kesadaran orang tua akan pentingnya gizi dan pola asuh tepat. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pemanfaatan ruang terbuka sebagai sarana edukasi, seperti pojok baca, mural gizi, praktik memasak sehat, dan penyuluhan interaktif, mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterlibatan orang tua, khususnya ibu. Model pembelajaran berbasis pengalaman dan partisipatif dinilai lebih efektif dibanding pendekatan formal. Studi-studi pendukung di daerah lain juga membuktikan bahwa intervensi komunitas dapat menurunkan angka stunting secara signifikan. Oleh karena itu, optimalisasi fungsi taman sebagai pusat edukasi terbuka yang kontekstual dan menyenangkan memiliki potensi besar dalam mendukung program nasional penurunan stunting secara berkelanjutan dan dapat direplikasi di wilayah lain dengan penyesuaian lokal.
