Abstract

Looking to the Future: Leadership Vision in Art Gallery Management as an Information and Cultural InstitutionABSTRACTThe success of an information institution's program is closely related to the role of a leader and the vision it holds. This article aims to investigate further how leadership vision is applied in the management of art galleries in Indonesia, especially in Griya Seni Popo Iskandar. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection is done by observation, interviews with gallery leaders, and document analysis. The research findings indicate that leaders with a vision of the future are clearly needed for the sustainability of art galleries.  A leader with strong vision can guide the gallery to function not only as a place for art exhibitions, but also as an institution that provides cultural information that is educative and in accordance with the needs of the community. To realize his vision, the leader makes the gallery a center of public knowledge, a protector of Popo Iskandar's works, as a useful space for collectors and the community, as seen from the adaptation and innovation strategies applied. This study recommends that existing art galleries develop a leadership vision that is not only focused on the preservation of artworks but also considers the potential for education and cultural economic impact.
