Abstract

Identifying risks in flood-prone areas is necessary to support risk management decisions. This research was conducted to establish a vulnerability model of flood hazards in the city of Pontianak. The model was based on the scoring and weighting of biophysical factors. The AHP method and logical formulations were used to establish the model. The result showed that the accuracy of the model used by AHP to determine the vulnerability of floods was 80% in Pontianak City. The accuracy of the model using logical formulations to determine the vulnerability level of a flood was 84%. The Kappa accuracy value in model 1 is 76.7%. The model of flood vulnerability explains that most of Pontianak City has a very high level of flood vulnerability, which is 31,440,568.8 m2 or 29.11% of the total research area of 108,003,319.8 m2. The vulnerable area is 29,945,485.7 m2 or 27.73%, and the less safe area is 22,126,936.3 m2 or 20.49%, with the safe area being 24,490,328.7 m2or 22.67% of the total area. Abstract

West Kalimantan, particularly the city of Pontianak, is known for its abundant peat soil reserves. Peat soil forms from the accumulation of organic material derived from decomposed vegetation under water-saturated conditions. In construction, the use of local materials such as peat soil can be a strategic alternative to reduce project costs and minimize environmental impact. In this study, peat soil was utilized as an additive in laterite soil mixtures intended for subgrade applications. The purpose of using peat is to reduce construction costs and minimize negative environmental impacts. This research aims to determine the effect of varying peat content—10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%—on the California Bearing Ratio (CBR) of laterite soil. The results show that the CBR value of natural laterite soil is 32.69%. When mixed with 10% peat, the CBR decreases to 12.53%; at 20%, it drops to 10.25%; at 30%, it further reduces to 6.8%; and at 40%, it falls to 4.56%. For mixtures containing 50% or more peat, no measurable CBR value was obtained. These findings indicate a significant reduction in bearing capacity as peat content increases.

Abstract

Kelurahan Sei Jawi Dalam merupakan wilayah di Kota Pontianak, Kalimantan Barat, yang rentan terhadap bencana banjir, terutama akibat kondisi geografis dan curah hujan tinggi, namun masyarakatnya belum memiliki pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang memadai dalam memetakan kawasan rawan banjir untuk mitigasi yang optimal. Oleh karena itu, tujuan utama kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini adalah memberdayakan masyarakat Kelurahan Sei Jawi Dalam melalui sosialisasi dan pelatihan pemetaan kawasan rawan banjir. Metode pelaksanaan melibatkan ceramah dan presentasi, demonstrasi langsung menggunakan teknologi GIS, diskusi kelompok, dan video edukasi untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan masyarakat serta aparatur sipil negara. Hasil PKM menunjukkan bahwa 100% peserta menyatakan peta mudah digunakan dan legendanya mudah dipahami, serta mereka merasa senang dan puas dengan kegiatan tersebut9. Kegiatan ini sukses mencapai tujuan utama dalam mensosialisasikan dan melatih pemetaan, yang secara nyata meningkatkan kesiapan dan respons masyarakat terhadap ancaman banjir. Manfaat signifikan yang dihasilkan adalah peta kawasan rawan banjir yang akurat sebagai acuan mitigasi dan perencanaan tata ruang, serta terjalinnya kolaborasi berkelanjutan antara akademisi dan pemerintah daerah/masyarakat.
