Abstract

Educators or teachers play a fundamental role in the field of education, not only as instructors but also as mentors in shaping students' character. Character education is an essential aspect of forming individuals with noble morals, in line with national educational goals. However, teachers' awareness of this role remains a challenge that needs attention. This study aims to raise teachers' awareness of the importance of character education in shaping students who are not only academically intelligent but also morally upright. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a library research approach, where data is collected through literature reviews from books, journals, and other academic sources. The findings indicate that teachers, as role models in character development, bear a significant responsibility that cannot be carried out individually. Synergy among teachers, school administrators, and other stakeholders is necessary to create an educational environment conducive to character development. Additionally, character education should be integrated into the learning process so that students achieve a balance between intellectual and moral intelligence, enabling them to face life’s challenges more effectively

Abstract

Penelitian kualitatif merupakan pendekatan ilmiah yang digunakan untuk memahami fenomena sosial secara mendalam melalui perspektif partisipan atau subjek penelitian. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji karakteristik utama dari penelitian kualitatif serta menjelaskan tujuan dan manfaat yang terkandung dalam penerapan metode ini. Melalui studi kepustakaan, ditemukan bahwa penelitian kualitatif memiliki ciri khas seperti pendekatan naturalistik, fokus pada makna, penggunaan data non-numerik, serta bersifat fleksibel dan kontekstual. Tujuan utama dari penelitian kualitatif adalah menggali makna, memahami perilaku, serta mengungkap realitas sosial yang kompleks dan dinamis. Adapun manfaat dari penelitian kualitatif meliputi kemampuan untuk memberikan pemahaman yang mendalam terhadap suatu fenomena, membangun teori dari bawah (grounded theory), serta memberikan informasi yang kontekstual yang berguna bagi pengambilan keputusan dalam dunia pendidikan, sosial, dan kebijakan publik. Hasil kajian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan pemahaman mendasar bagi para peneliti pemula mengenai pentingnya pendekatan kualitatif dalam menjawab pertanyaan-pertanyaan penelitian yang bersifat eksploratif dan deskriptif.

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas pemikiran pendidikan Islam pada masa kekuasaan Bani Umayyah yang berpusat di Damaskus (661–750 M). Dinasti ini memulai sistematisasi pendidikan Islam melalui masjid, halaqah, dan lembaga informal lainnya, dengan penekanan utama pada pendidikan agama, bahasa Arab, dan awal pengembangan ilmu duniawi. Artikel ini mengulas sistem pendidikan, lembaga pendidikan, peran politik dan ekonomi, serta kebijakan pendidikan yang diberlakukan oleh pemerintahan Umayyah. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa masa ini meletakkan fondasi bagi pendidikan Islam yang lebih maju pada periode berikutnya.
