Abstract

Political pragmatism and democracy in Indonesia are so massive, and this also happens in the regions, including Lamongan Regency. High political costs are one of the significant factors in the occurrence of pragmatic politics. So it is difficult to avoid or even eliminate. The research method in this simple article is a qualitative research method using library studies and interviews to obtain the required data, both primary and secondary data. Lamongan Regency is a regency known as the City of Santri or the City of Wali, from there the Regency rose to be researched. Liberal democracy that is developing in Indonesia creates new social facts in society. These facts are the existence of pragmatic political practices and transactional politics that cause extraordinary high-cost politics, so today's Indonesian democracy cannot be separated from these facts. Moreover, society also has quite pragmatic and transactional thinking when the election arrives. So that this does not happen in a vacuum, but in fact it happens so massively that it seems to be an open secret for society and political leaders themselves.

Abstract

The escalation of the conflict between Israel and Palestine can be called Hamas from day to day. The escalation turned out to involve another country, namely Iran as one of the countries in the Middle East that has strong military defense resources. As a Muslim and threatened by Israeli actions in Palestine, there were also several defiant statements issued by the Israeli authorities that eventually made Iran directly involved in the war that occurred between Palestine and Israel. This is not only the issue of Islam as a causal factor, but Israel tends and often conducts political confrontations with Iran, so that the country is directly involved. Israel's military's notoriously strong defenses were finally rendered powerless by hundreds of rockets launched from Tehran. Tel Aviv was finally devastated by the attack. This proves that Iran's national interests are being directly disturbed by Israel, so the action of Iran is an active reaction to the problem. The national interest is one of the important elements in the approach and theory of classical realism in politics and international relations. Thus, it can be an analytical knife if the theory is used. The research method used in this article is a qualitative research method using literature studies as a way to obtain and analyze the data needed. The primary data and secondary data are prepared by the author to support the data collection in this article. The confrontation between Iran and Israel over the past year, namely in 2025, has increased, they launched rockets and missiles at each other to attack their respective capitals, namely Tehran (Iran) and Tel Aviv (Israel). So the occurrence of the confrontation has indeed become a natural thing. When Iran as an independent country was disturbed by Israel, which has often waged wars against Palestine. Iran also wants to prove to the world that the country has a strong military defense system.

Abstract

Democracy in Indonesia is the result of a complex and dynamic interaction between Islamic values and political practices evolving within society. This process not only creates synergy between Islamic principles and democratic values but also strengthens the government's legitimacy and creates space for more inclusive public participation. In this context, Islam serves not only as a belief system but also as a moral foundation that can support just and democratic political practices. The relationship between Islam and democracy in Indonesia demonstrates that religious values can contribute significantly to social and political stability, creating a harmonious and inclusive society. The importance of dialogue between political leaders and the Islamic community is crucial in identifying challenges faced in realizing a more inclusive democracy. This study aims to explore how Islamic values can reduce radicalism and support the strengthening of democracy in Indonesia. In this regard, religious moderation is key to creating constructive dialogue and reducing the potential for conflict, thus supporting a more stable democratic environment. Through an inclusive and collaborative approach, it is hoped that education that emphasizes the values of religious moderation can shape a tolerant and diverse young generation, and encourage interfaith cooperation in a multicultural society. Thus, this research is expected to provide a significant contribution to the development of effective and sustainable religious moderation policies, as well as supporting social and political stability in Indonesia.
