Abstract

This study aims to identify the form and reference of swear words in Arabic in the novel Imro'ah 'Inda Nuqṭah Aṣ Ṣifr by Nawal As-Sa'dawi. Each language has different cultural characteristics, so when carrying out translation practices a translator must understand the culture of the source text and target text. As for the practice of translating Arabic swear words into Indonesian, a translator needs to understand Arabic and Indonesian cultures to produce an equivalent translation. This study will apply Newmark's V diagram to identify the translation method used by the translator, whether it is oriented towards the source text or the target text. Then continued with the application of Mona Baker's translation strategy. This study is a qualitative descriptive study using the listening and recording method in collecting data. After the research data is collected, the researcher will carry out 3 stages of data analysis, namely reducting data according to classification, presenting data using sampling techniques, and finally drawing conclusions from the data found. The results of the study show that in the novel Imro'ah Inda Nutqah Sifr uses swear words in the form of words, phrases, clauses and sentences. The translation method in the INS novel uses several translation methods, namely: Word-for-word translation, literal translation, faithful translation, semantic translation, adaptation translation, and idiomatic translation. Then the translation strategy uses more translation strategies of reordering.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of Augmented Reality (AR)-based learning media at Al Ma’arif Singosari High School, an Islamic educational institution undergoing digital transformation. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the research explores the lived experiences, perceptions, and challenges encountered by teachers, students, and administrators. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, and document analysis, ensuring methodological triangulation. Findings indicate that AR positively influenced teaching practices, fostering creativity and a shift from content delivery to facilitative instruction. Students reported increased engagement and improved comprehension of abstract concepts across subjects such as Islamic Studies, Biology, and Arabic. However, technical challenges—including device compatibility, limited internet connectivity, and distractions from mobile devices—posed significant barriers. These dual outcomes highlight both the pedagogical potential and operational limitations of AR in Islamic education. The study provides practical implications for institutions considering similar initiatives, emphasizing the importance of teacher training, infrastructure readiness, and institutional support. While offering a replicable framework, this single-site study is limited in scope and duration. Future research should explore the long-term impacts of AR integration, its adaptability across diverse Islamic school contexts, and the development of culturally and pedagogically aligned AR content.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness and implementation of Augmented Reality (AR)-based learning media in enhancing Arabic speaking skills at SMA Islam Al-Ma’arif Singosari. Arabic speaking skill learning often faces challenges such as a lack of interaction, minimal speaking practice, and low student motivation and confidence. Therefore, technology-based innovations like AR are needed to create a more interactive and contextual learning experience. This research employs a Pre-Experimental method with a One-Group Pre-Test and Post-Test design. The sample consists of 27 students from grade XI IPS 3, with research instruments including speaking tests, observations, and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test and N-Gain test. The results show that AR-based media is effective in improving Arabic speaking skills. The average pre-test score of 55.7 increased to 86.2 in the post-test, with the Wilcoxon test yielding a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant improvement. The N-Gain score of 0.6650 (66.5%) falls into the moderate category. In terms of implementation, the observation results indicate that students responded positively to the use of AR media, showing increased engagement, enthusiasm, and willingness to practice speaking through interactive 3D visualizations and audio conversations. These findings suggest that AR media not only enhances students’ speaking performance but also supports an engaging and supportive learning environment.
