Abstract

Background: Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is one of the priority horticultural crops to be developed in Indonesia. One of the factors affecting the decline in potato productivity is Plant Disturbing Organisms (PDO), namely Alternaria solani Sor. a pathogenic fungus that causes dry spot disease in potato plants. Infection by this disease can reach 100%, resulting in yield losses of up to 78%. One of the biological agents utilized is Bacillus subtilis (Ehrenberg) Cohn. the bacteria for controlling Alternaria solani Sor.Aims: This study aims to determine the effectiveness and optimal concentration of Bacillus subtilis (Ehrenberg) Cohn in suppressing the intensity of Alternaria solani Sor—disease on potato plants.Methods: The research was conducted using the Randomized Block Design (RBD) method, consisting of 6 treatments and 5 replications. The treatment applications used were: Bs-8 (Bacillus subtilis (Ehrenberg) Cohn. 8 ml/liter of water), Bs-10 (Bacillus subtilis (Ehrenberg) Cohn. 10 ml/liter of water), Bs-12 (Bacillus subtilis (Ehrenberg) Cohn. 12 ml/liter of water), Bs-14 (Bacillus subtilis (Ehrenberg) Cohn. 14 ml/liter of water), B1 (Positive control 80% mankozeb concentration 2 grams/liter of water), and B0 (Negative control without Bacillus subtilis (Ehrenberg) Cohn.).Result: The results showed that Bacillus subtilis (Ehrenberg) Cohn. treatment suppressed the intensity of dry spot disease (Alternaria solani Sor.), and the concentration of Bacillus subtilis (Ehrenberg) Cohn. 14 ml/liter effectively suppresses the intensity of Alternaria solani Sor. disease by 88.89% in potato plants.

Abstract

Cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) is a horticultural plant that has high economic value and contains nutrients that the body needs. Cayenne pepper is one of the leading national horticultural commodities, so it is necessary to increase the production of cayenne pepper appropriately. The obstacle that is often faced in the production of cayenne pepper is the disruption of the production of cayenne pepper caused by the attack of anthracnose disease. Anthracnose disease or fruit rot caused by the fungus Colletotrichum capcisi Sydow can result in yield losses ranging from 20-90%. Trichoderma harzianum Rifai. is a soil saprophytic fungus that naturally can be used as a biological agent, because it has antagonism against pathogens in the form of competition for space and nutrients, mycoparasites and antibiosis. The experimental results in the laboratory showed that the biological agent Trichoderma harzianum Rifai was able to suppress the development of anthracnose disease.

Abstract

Article Highlights: - In preliminary lab tests, clove leaf extract clearly slowed C. capsici growth.- Field trials assessed its potential to reduce leaf spot disease in cayenne pepper.- Applying concentrations above 15 g/L tended to lower the observed disease intensity.- The same concentration range was also linked to an increase in leaf number.- However, low field disease incidence limited detectable yield responses.Abstract:Cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) is a spice plant that has good prospects for development in Indonesia because of its high market demand. There are several problems in increasing the production of this crop, one of which the plant diseases. One of the main diseases in cayenne pepper is leaf spot disease caused by the fungus Cercospora capsici (Heald & F.A. Wolf). Chemical pesticides can effectively control the disease but they have negative effects on the environments. Clove tree (Syzigium aromaticum L.) is usually cultivated for its dried clove buds that can be used for many other purposes. Besides, because of their contents, the leaves of clove tree have a potential to reduce the intensity of leaf spot disease. Therefore, the aims of the study were (1) to determine the effects of clove leaf extract on reducing the intensity of Cercospora capsici (Heald & F.A. Wolf) in cayenne pepper, and (2) to determine the effective concentration of the extract in reducing the intensity of the disease. The experiment used a randomized block design (RBD) with 5 treatments and 5 replications, namely: A = control (water only), B = 10 g clove leaf extract/L water, C = 15 g clove leaf extract/L water, D = 20 g clove leaf extract/L water, and E = 25 g clove leaf extract/L water. The results showed that the applications of leaf extract of Syzigium aromaticum L. could reduce the intensity of the leaf spot disease caused by Cercospora capsici, but the applications had no effect on the yield of the cayenne pepper. The ineffectiveness of treatments on the yield was deduced due to the lowness of the intensities of the disease in all treatments including the control.

Abstract

Tanaman jagung merupakan salah satu tanaman pangan yang biasa dikonsumsi masyarakat Indonesia. Kerusakan akibat serangan Spodoptera litura pada tanaman jagung mencapai 85% bahkan dapat menyebabkan gagal panen. Salah satu upaya untuk mengendalikan Spodoptera litura ialah menggunakan entomopatogen Beauvaria bassiana. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh aplikasi entomopatogen Beauvaria bassiana (Bals.) Vuil. terhadap mortalitas dan intensitas serangan Spodoptera litura. Penelitian menggunakan metode eksperimental Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) yang terdiri 6 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan, terdiri dari  aplikasi Beauveria bassiana dengan konsentrasi 50, 55, 60, 65, 70 g.L-1 air, dan kontrol tanpa perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Beauveria bassiana konsentrasi 70 g.L-1 air berpengaruh terhadap populasi, mortalitas, dan intensitas serangan Spodoptera litura.

Abstract

Bawang daun merupakan salah satu jenis tanaman yang banyak dibudidayakan di Indonesia. Kerusakan akibat serangan Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. allii pada tanaman bawang daun mencapai 50%. Salah satu upaya untuk mengendalikan Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. allii ialah menggunakan agensia hayati Trichoderma harzianum Rifai. Tujuan penelitian adalah mengetahui pengaruh agensia hayati Trichoderma harzianum Rifai terhadap intensitas penyakit hawar daun bakteri yang disebabkan oleh Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. allii pada tanaman bawang daun. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) yang terdiri dari 5 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Terdiri dari aplikasi Trichoderma harzianum Rifai dengan konsentrasi 5 g/l air, 10 g/l air, 15 g/l air, 20 g/l air dan kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa agensia hayati Trichoderma harzianum Rifai. berpengaruh dalam menekan intensitas penyakit hawar daun bakteri yang disebabkan oleh Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. allii. Perlakuan Trichoderma harzianum Rifai. 20 g/l air memberikan hasil terbaik dalam menekan intensitas penyakit hawar daun bakteri sebesar 93,19% dan mampu meningkatkan variabel pertumbuhan tanaman serta hasil bobot panen per plot percobaan.

Abstract

Jagung manis (Zea mays saccarata Sturt) menjadi salah satu produk pertanian yang dibudidayakan karena harga jualnya yang relatif tinggi dengan waktu panen relatif cepat. Dalam budidaya jagung manis, serangan hama dapat menyebabkab menurunnya produktivitas tanaman, salah satu hama pada jagung manis yaitu Spodoptera litura F. Pengendalian Spodoptera litura F. dapat dilakukan menggunakan pestisida sintetik, akan tetapi penggunaan pestisida yang tidak bijak dapat menyebabkan pencemaran lingkungan. Perlu alternatif lain untuk mengendalikan hama Spodoptera litura F. salah satunya menggunakan larutan buah kecubung (Datura metel L.) yang mengandung senyawa alkaloid. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh larutan buah kecubung terhadap hama Spodoptera litura F. serta mengetahui konsentrasi yang paling efektif larutan buah kecubung untuk menekan intensitas serangan Spodoptera litura F. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 6 perlakuan yaitu: P0 : Kontrol, P1 : 20%, P2 : 30%, P3 : 40%, P4 : 50% dan P5 : 60%. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan perlakuan P5 dengan menggunakan 60% larutan buah kecubung mampu menekan intensitas serangan hama Spodoptera litura F. hingga 87,54%.
