Abstract

This study aims to understand the impact of cyberbullying and to develop a pastoral assistance framework for teenagers who are victims of cyberbullying in the GPM Bethel and GPM Rehoboth congregations. To address the research problem, the researcher employed a qualitative research method. Observations were conducted on the impact of cyberbullying on teenagers in the GPM Bethel and GPM Rehoboth congregations, interviews were held with victims, church council members, and youth mentors in both congregations, and document studies related to cyberbullying and pastoral care were carried out. The findings reveal that in the GPM Bethel and GPM Rehoboth congregations, 57 teenagers have experienced cyber violence. Through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), it was further found that 33 teenagers from the GPM Bethel congregation and 24 from the GPM Rehoboth congregation had been victims of cyberbullying while using WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and online games as platforms for communication and building friendships. The hope of finding understanding and supportive peers through these platforms had, unfortunately, led to hurtful actions among the teenagers. The study highlights the need for a pastoral care approach to assist victims in recovering and developing healthy ways of building social relationships while addressing the trauma caused by cyberbullying.

Abstract

Racial discrimination generally arises from the perceived superiority of one particular ethnicity over other ethnicities. This is what happens to ethnic Chinese in Indonesia. Discrimination against ethnic Chinese is a phenomenon that has been going on for quite a long time. This can be seen from the cases of riots from 1998 to 2020, also when the Covid-19 pandemic hit the world which also hit Indonesia. This discrimination against ethnicity is carried out in verbal and physical form. This article aims to offer a humanist Christology of Jesus as a point of view on the problem of discrimination as stated above. The method used is library research which examines selected Christian texts and extracts and concludes them as a humanist attitude of Jesus. This research found that Jesus' good attitude towards people who were marginalized and looked down upon by other groups shows that Jesus began to build bridges for relations between humans regardless of ethnicity, religion, race and between groups. This research concludes that Jesus was very pro-humanity, He did not view other ethnicities as "non-natives" or small groups that should be isolated and ostracized, but as fellow humans who should be treated equally, even as brothers.

Abstract

Christian adolescents who survived communal conflict in Ambon have grown up within narratives of religiously based violence while living in a digital era susceptible to the spread of radicalism and hate speech. This reality underscores the urgent need to cultivate religious moderation in a structured, context-specific manner. This study aims to explore how Christian adolescent survivors of communal conflict in Ambon understand religious moderation and to develop a relevant model of religious moderation for them. A qualitative case study method was employed, with in-depth interviews conducted with 23 adolescent informants. Findings reveal that their understanding of religious moderation remains normative and incomplete, as trauma from communal conflict has generated negative perceptions toward adherents of other religions. Drawing on these findings, the researchers developed a religious moderation model grounded in Jack Mezirow's Transformative Education theory, encompassing four stages: experience, critical reflection, reflective discourse, and action. This model integrates trauma healing with the formation of a moderate character and can be implemented through Christian churches and schools in post-conflict Ambon.
