Abstract

This study aims to understand the impact of cyberbullying and to develop a pastoral assistance framework for teenagers who are victims of cyberbullying in the GPM Bethel and GPM Rehoboth congregations. To address the research problem, the researcher employed a qualitative research method. Observations were conducted on the impact of cyberbullying on teenagers in the GPM Bethel and GPM Rehoboth congregations, interviews were held with victims, church council members, and youth mentors in both congregations, and document studies related to cyberbullying and pastoral care were carried out. The findings reveal that in the GPM Bethel and GPM Rehoboth congregations, 57 teenagers have experienced cyber violence. Through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), it was further found that 33 teenagers from the GPM Bethel congregation and 24 from the GPM Rehoboth congregation had been victims of cyberbullying while using WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and online games as platforms for communication and building friendships. The hope of finding understanding and supportive peers through these platforms had, unfortunately, led to hurtful actions among the teenagers. The study highlights the need for a pastoral care approach to assist victims in recovering and developing healthy ways of building social relationships while addressing the trauma caused by cyberbullying.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the implementation of pastoral care for special servants whose family members commit immoral acts from a pastoral counseling perspective. This study uses library research methods. The literature used is literature that supports writing, namely church regulations in the Maluku Protestant Church (GPM); books related to pastoral care and pastoral counseling, as well as other sources. The author attempts to describe thoughts about how organic regulations regarding special grazing in GPM should be implemented from a pastoral counseling perspective. The findings in this study are that the act of shepherding, which is a form of church discipline in GPM, has indeed been well formulated in the GPM Basic Regulations on Shepherding. Implementation of these pastoral actions is generally carried out in the form of conversations or pastoral counseling. However, as an effort to guide, it seems that the process of pastoral conversations between servants and problematic family members is often only carried out in one go and is limited to providing advice. For servants who have problems, the problems they face are more complex so that pastoral conversations cannot be done just once and in the form of giving advice, but can be more than that. This study concludes that empathy and a willingness to listen are attitudes that pastoral counselors must have so that the act of pastoral care is not interpreted as a punishment. These two attitudes are based on the love of God in Jesus Christ who was present in the world to heal, guide and reconcile when humans fell and were far from God.

Abstract

This article aims to find out teenagers' problems related to bullying on social media and to put a pastoral-based approach so that the church, with its pastoral services, can be relevant to the struggles of teenage church members. The method used is descriptive analysis with a systematic literature review approach. The findings of this research show that the internet or digital world opens up space for teenage bullying, which starts from encounters and interactions on social media. Apart from that, teenagers are less able to open up a space for discussion regarding cyberbullying issues with other people and their parents. The church must be present for these youth problems through pastoral care to prevent worse things from happening. Abstract

The objectives of this community service are to enhance: (1) knowledge about cyberbullying and its various forms, and (2) skills in providing pastoral care for adolescent victims, both from the perspective of the adolescents themselves and their caregivers at GPM Passo Anugerah Congregation, Ambon City. The methods used in this community service include: (1) multidisciplinary education on the issue of cyberbullying from psychological and pastoral perspectives, and (2) pastoral training and mentoring in the form of workshops for the participants, both for the adolescents and caregivers at GPM Passo Anugerah Congregation. The findings from this activity indicate that participants have a fair understanding of social media bullying, but are not yet trained in providing support to victims. The conclusion of this community service is that knowledge, when supported by adequate skills and collaboration among the various parties involved, will improve the ability of adolescents and caregivers to become more sensitive and skilled in handling cases of bullying.
