Abstract

This article examines the influence of the adoption of the Kampala Amendments and the jurisdictional framework of the International Criminal Court (ICC) on the effectiveness of law enforcement against the crime of aggression in the international criminal law system. It outlines the historical background of international criminal tribunals, critiques of previous ad hoc tribunals, and the necessity for a permanent and fair ICC. The primary focus is on the newly defined crime of aggression through the Kampala Amendments and the complex jurisdictional issues involving the authority of the United Nations Security Council. Using a normative juridical approach, this article argues that while the Kampala Amendments have significantly advanced the legal framework, the effective enforcement of jurisdiction over the crime of aggression remains hindered by political and institutional challenges.

Abstract

This study evaluates international collaboration and criminal policies in combating human trafficking as a transnational organized crime. Human trafficking is a severe violation of Human Rights (HR), involving complex modus operandi such as fraud, violence, and exploitation, with women and children as primary victims. The research analyzes the characteristics of human trafficking, legal enforcement challenges in Indonesia, and the role of international cooperation through instruments like the Palermo Convention and the ASEAN Convention Against Trafficking in Persons (ACTIP). The study employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through interviews, observations, and legal documents. Findings reveal that despite Indonesia’s legal framework, including Law No. 21 of 2007, implementation faces obstacles such as inter-agency coordination gaps, limited resources, and inconsistent legal interpretations. Globally, international cooperation through extradition treaties and mutual legal assistance is critical for effective enforcement. The study recommends strengthening law enforcement capacity, regulatory harmonization, and public awareness campaigns to holistically combat human trafficking.

Abstract

The role of law students in improving literacy and the use of Indonesian in Kelilik Village, as part of a community development strategy based on education and law. The background of this research is based on the low level of literacy and Indonesian language skills which remain a serious challenge in rural areas, thus having implications for limited community access to information, education, and participation in legal and social development. The formulation of the research problem focuses on the contribution of law students in improving the quality of literacy in rural communities and the synergy patterns established with the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration. By using a qualitative approach and descriptive analysis through literature studies, it was found that law students not only function as literacy facilitators and advocates for the use of good and correct Indonesian, but also as liaison actors between village communities and central government policies within the framework of sustainable development. Synergy with the Ministry of Villages shows the existence of program integration that strengthens the sustainability of literacy activities, while supporting the human resource development agenda in the village. This study concludes that law students play a strategic role as agents of change who are able to bridge the literacy gap and foster legal awareness by strengthening Indonesian as an instrument for social, educational, and legal development in rural areas.
