Abstract

Religious moderation is essential for building a harmonious and tolerant society amid religious diversity. This study aims to assess the success of religious moderation programs in Toba district, which is home to various religious communities. The research focuses on the challenges hindering public understanding of religious moderation and explores ways to enhance awareness and implementation. Using a qualitative method, data were collected through interviews and direct observations. The findings indicate a need for broader understanding among Toba residents regarding the values of religious moderation. Socialization and training efforts should be directed toward local Ministry of Religious Affairs staff, religious instructors, and involve religious and traditional leaders to effectively disseminate the message of moderation. Support from the central Ministry of Religion—particularly in providing equitable budget allocations to regional offices—is also crucial for the successful implementation of the program. A structured and collaborative approach is necessary to ensure that the message of religious moderation reaches all levels of society and contributes to the maintenance of interreligious harmony.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui strategi penyuluh agama dalam membina perilaku beragama siswa Sekolah Luar Biasa Negeri Doloksanggul, dapat disimpulkan bahwa peran penyuluh agama sangat penting dalam proses pembinaan keagamaan bagi siswa berkebutuhan khusus. Strategi yang diterapkan dilakukan dengan pendekatan humanis dan persuasif, disesuaikan dengan karakteristik serta keterbatasan yang dimiliki oleh setiap siswa. Penyuluh agama tidak hanya menyampaikan materi keagamaan, tetapi juga membimbing, memberi teladan, serta menciptakan suasana pembelajaran yang nyaman dan mudah dipahami oleh siswa. Proses pembinaan perilaku beragama dilakukan melalui berbagai metode, seperti pembiasaan ibadah, keteladanan sikap, pendekatan individual, serta penggunaan media visual dan praktik langsung. Metode tersebut dinilai efektif karena mampu membantu siswa memahami nilai-nilai agama secara sederhana dan aplikatif dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Hasil pembinaan menunjukkan adanya perkembangan positif pada perilaku beragama siswa, baik dalam aspek pengetahuan agama, pelaksanaan ibadah sesuai kemampuan, maupun sikap dan perilaku sosial yang mencerminkan nilai-nilai keagamaan. Meskipun demikian, pelaksanaan pembinaan perilaku beragama masih menghadapi beberapa kendala, seperti keterbatasan kemampuan komunikasi dan pemahaman siswa, perbedaan tingkat kebutuhan khusus, serta keterbatasan sarana dan waktu pembinaan. Namun, faktor pendukung berupa kerja sama yang baik antara penyuluh agama, guru, dan orang tua, serta lingkungan sekolah yang kondusif, mampu membantu mengatasi sebagian hambatan tersebut sehingga pembinaan tetap dapat berjalan dengan baik.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the positive and significant influence of Christian religious counseling on the socio-emotional development of the elderly in Siaro Village, Siborongborong District, North Tapanuli Regency. This research employed a descriptive quantitative approach and involved 27 respondents as the research subjects. The data were collected using a closed-ended questionnaire consisting of 20 items for each variable. The data were then analyzed using the Kolmogorov–Smirnov normality test, Product Moment correlation test (rxy), t-test, and simple regression analysis. The results of the analysis showed that: (1) Analysis prerequisite tests: a) in the positive relationship test, the value of rxy = 0.570 was greater than rtable = 0.381, indicating a positive relationship between Christian religious counseling (X) and the socio-emotional development of the elderly (Y); b) in the significance test, the value of tcount = 1.982 was greater than ttable = 1.706 at a significance level of α = 0.05, indicating that the relationship was significant. (2) Influence test: a) in the regression equation test, the equation Y = 8.207 + 0.636X was obtained, which indicates that every increase of one unit in Christian religious counseling increases the socio-emotional development of the elderly by 0.636 units; b) the regression coefficient of determination (R²) = 0.570 indicates that 57.0% of the variation in the socio-emotional development of the elderly can be explained by Christian religious counseling, while the remaining 33% is influenced by factors outside this study. Therefore, Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected, indicating that Christian religious counseling has a positive and significant influence on the social and emotional development of the elderly.
