Abstract

Civil space in Indonesia is commonly understood through the lens of coercive restrictions, yet a less examined dimension is how education and the design of public participation shape young people’s access to policy processes. This study employs a sequential embedded design, combining document analysis of the regulatory framework for participation with an online survey of 567 Indonesian youth aged 16–30, selected through convenience sampling. The findings reveal three participatory capacity gaps: (1) the knowing–understanding gap—96.3% of respondents are familiar with the concept of policy participation, but only 43.7% understand its processes; (2) the understanding–doing gap—direct involvement is very low (19.2%); and (3) the access–influence gap—informational access does not translate into substantive influence. These patterns indicate that participatory exclusion is structural and reproduced through the disjunction between learning processes and regulatory design. This article contributes by offering an integrative framework for public policy–legal education that emphasizes procedural literacy and deliberative experience as strategies to expand a more inclusive civil space for youth.

Abstract

Kemajuan teknologi dan ilmu pengetahuan membawa perubahan besar pada pola asuh dan pendidikan anak usia dini. Hal tersebut menuntut orang tua dan guru untuk memahami pentingnya pendidikan sebagai fondasi perkembangan anak. Pendidikan anak usia dini tidak hanya bertujuan mengenalkan keterampilan dasar tetapi juga membentuk kemampuan kognitif, sosial, emosional, dan moral. PAUD Mekar Sari di Kabupaten Banyumas menghadapi tantangan seperti keterbatasan fasilitas dan rendahnya partisipasi orang tua. Kondisi ini menghambat upaya menciptakan pendidikan berkualitas. Alternatif solusi yang ditawarkan melalui program pengabdian masyarakat skema IPTEKS, diantarnya: (1) Mengidentifikasi dan memetakan kondisi serta kebutuhan masyarakat/orangtua peserta didik PAUD; (2) Menilai pemahaman masyarakat dan orangtua sebagai upaya persiapan sosialiasi dan pendampingan; (3) Sosialisai kepada Orangtua dan Masyarakat mengenai pentingnya Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini di lingkungan PAUD Mekarsari Kelurahan Kranji; (4) Pelaksanaan pendampingan; (5) Pembuatan Media Campaign tentang Pentingnya pendidikan anak usia dini, khususnya di lingkungan PAUD Mekar Sari. Sosialisasi dan pendampingan digunakan kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 31 Juli 2025, dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan partisipasi masyarakat dan orangtua mengenai pentingnya pendidikan anak usia dini. Luaran kegiatan meliputi artikel prosiding, presentasi seminar nasional, profil hasil pengabdian, yang diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kesadaran serta partisipasi orangtua dan masyarakat, khususnya di lingkungan PAUD Mekar Sari Kelurahan Kranji. Abstract

Nickel mining and the environmental trade-off in Raja Ampat, Papua, reveal an ambitious prospect for Indonesia’s national industry, driven by the global effects of minerals and the focus on the massive escalation of electric vehicle (EV) production. Moreover, this foundation presents a government dilemma, leaving too many legal and policy loopholes that could undermine resource governance. In addition, through qualitative descriptive approaches and content analysis, we identify issues that underpin a fragmented and selectively enforced legal regime characterised by weak environmental safeguards and inadequate community consultation processes. Interestingly, our research unexpectedly uncovers that the problem is poorly managed and neglects aspects of law and policy that we consider fundamental. As a call to action, this issue stresses the need for consistent resource governance reform for developing countries facing similar barriers and striving to achieve equity, sustainability, and local empowerment in extractive industry activities.

Abstract

The public sector in Indonesia stands at a critical juncture, shaped by a confluence of historical legacies, ongoing reforms, and the pressing demands of a rapidly evolving society. The urgency to understand and address the dynamics of governance, policy implementation, and public service delivery in Indonesia is underscored by the nation’s commitment to citizen welfare, equitable development, and the realization of good governance principles. As the world’s fourth most populous country and a diverse archipelago, Indonesia’s public sector faces unique challenges and opportunities that make its transformation both urgent and complex.
