Abstract

The effectiveness of the learning process is not only determined by grades but also depends on an individual's capacity for concentration and focus. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of listening to Qur'anic murattal recitation on concentration. The research subjects were students with average IQ levels, with each group consisting of 10 individuals. The research method used was an experimental design, specifically the randomized two-group pretest-posttest design. The experimental group listened to Qur'anic murattal recitation for 30 minutes, while the control group listened for 10 minutes. The measurement tool used was the digit span test, both backward and forward. The statistical analyses used were independent and paired sample t-tests. The results of the independent sample t-test showed a t-value of 2.105 (p ≤ 0.05), indicating a difference in the average concentration scores between the experimental group (M = 2.2; SD = 1.32) and the control group (M = 0.7; SD = 1.83). Furthermore, the results of the paired sample t-test in the experimental group showed a difference in concentration levels before listening to the Qur’anic murattal recitation (M = 9.3; SD = 2.16) and after listening (M = 11.5; SD = 1.43), with a t-value of -5.284 (p < 0.01). It can be concluded that listening to Qur’anic murattal recitation for a longer duration was effective in improving concentration. Keywords: Murattal Al-Qur'an, student’s concentration

Abstract

This research study was conducted to understand the phenomenon of cyberbullying, which is becoming increasingly prevalent in various circles, including among students. In addition to cyberbullying, the study examined aspects related to student resilience. The study involved 150 student respondents from junior and senior high schools in the Aceh Province, primarily from Banda Aceh, Aceh Besar, Aceh Selatan, Pidie, and Bireuen. Using a quantitative approach, the sample was collected over six months at the beginning of 2025. Preliminary test results showed that the reliability test for the cyberbullying scale was 0.879, while the reliability test for the resilience scale was 0.910. The research findings revealed a negative relationship between resilience and cyberbullying, with a correlation coefficient of -0.176. This indicates that higher levels of resilience are associated with lower levels of cyberbullying. Descriptively, students in Aceh, at both the junior and senior high school levels, have a high level of resilience. This is reflected in the low prevalence of cyberbullying: 36.7% among junior high school students and 46% among senior high school students. The high cyberbullying category was only found among 2% of junior high school students, and not at all among senior high school students (0%). Keywords: resilience, cyberbullying, Student in Aceh

Abstract

Cyberbullying has increasingly emerged as a significant psychological issue among university students, particularly as digital communication becomes deeply embedded in higher education settings. While self-control is commonly conceptualized as a protective mechanism against aggressive conduct, empirical findings have produced mixed evidence regarding its effectiveness in predicting cyberbullying involvement among emerging adults. The present study sought to investigate the association between self-control and cyberbullying behavior among university students in Aceh. A quantitative approach with a correlational framework was applied, involving 136 active students aged 17–25 years who were recruited using a convenience sampling technique. Data were gathered through Indonesian-adapted forms of the Self-Control Scale and the Cyberbullying Scale. Prior to hypothesis testing, assumptions of normality and linearity were examined, after which Pearson’s Product Moment correlation analysis was performed. The findings revealed no statistically significant association between self-control and cyberbullying behavior (r = −0.107; p = 0.214; p > 0.05). The majority of participants exhibited moderate levels of self-control and minimal engagement in cyberbullying activities. These results suggest that self-control may not serve as a direct determinant of cyberbullying among university students in Aceh. Instead, cyberbullying behavior during emerging adulthood may be more strongly shaped by external psychosocial influences, including peer norms, situational dynamics, and culturally embedded values that operate within digital interaction contexts.
