Abstract

This study aims to thoroughly analyse how the integration of Islamic values and Betawi cultural wisdom can strengthen character education among university students in Jakarta, particularly within the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and the Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) programme in the digital and global era. The primary objective of this research is to formulate a character education framework based on local and religious values that is adaptive to the challenges of the times and relevant to the needs of 21st-century learners. This research employs a library research method with a descriptive-qualitative approach. Data were collected from various sources, including books, academic journals, online articles, and official policy documents. Mendeley was used as a reference management tool, while NVivo 12 was utilised for thematic analysis and in-depth data interpretation. The findings indicate that the integration of Islamic principles and Betawi cultural values into the curriculum structure significantly contributes to the formation of students’ character and morality. The flexibility of the Merdeka Curriculum and the MBKM programme allows for the contextual and applicable internalisation of these values. The success of this character education model largely depends on the synergy between higher education institutions, families, and communities as the three main pillars in shaping students who are morally upright, disciplined, and rooted in local culture. This study offers both theoretical and practical contributions in the form of a character education model that is contextual, rooted in local culture, and relevant to the increasingly digitalised and globalised educational landscap

Abstract

Plastic pollution in Ambon Bay poses a serious threat to the sustainability of marine ecosystems and the well-being of coastal communities. This study aims to analyze the ecological, social, and economic impacts of plastic waste accumulation and to evaluate effective management and mitigation strategies. Using a descriptive–qualitative method through literature review and regional data analysis, the findings show that increasing plastic production and weak waste management systems have led to ecosystem degradation, including coral reef damage, declining biodiversity, and reduced income for local fishers. From an Islamic perspective, environmental preservation is a mandate entrusted to humans as khalifah on earth; thus, marine pollution is considered a form of fasad (destruction) that violates the principle of natural balance. Therefore, waste management requires collaboration among the government, industry, and the community, grounded in the values of maslahah (public benefit), amanah (responsibility), and ihsan (excellence), to achieve the goals of maqasid shariah in ensuring equitable and sustainable environmental stewardship

Abstract

Vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) is one of the leading commodities in the Indonesian aquaculture industry due to its high productivity, relatively rapid growth, and strong adaptability to diverse environmental conditions. This study aims to analyse marketing management and distribution aspects of vannamei shrimp at the Karangantu Installation of the Polytechnic of Fisheries Business Expertise, Kasemen District, Serang City, Banten Province, with a focus on improving efficiency, competitiveness, and the sustainability of aquaculture enterprises. The research employed a descriptive method with a qualitative approach, conducted through field observations, in-depth interviews with relevant stakeholders, and analysis of secondary data related to production, marketing, and distribution. The findings indicate that the implementation of well-planned marketing strategies, supported by efficient distribution systems and integrated supply chain management, contributes significantly to increased productivity and profitability of vannamei shrimp farming. The study concludes that strengthening marketing management and distribution plays a strategic role in enhancing the performance and sustainability of aquaculture businesses. Furthermore, the findings provide educational contributions to the development of entrepreneurship learning and agribusiness management in vocational education, particularly in improving students’ competencies and encouraging managerial innovation towards sustainable aquaculture.

Abstract

Abstract: Fishing areas have long been used by fishermen to determine the potential or not of a body of water. Mapping of fishing areas is often forgotten by fishermen in determining whether or not an area has the potential to be targeted. This research aims to map fishing areas using fishing gear and the types of fish caught in the Indian Ocean. This research was carried out in the waters of the Mentawai Islands and Tiku waters, West Sumatra Province. The research results show that there are three fishing areas in the Indian Ocean, namely (1) Siberut Island Zone, (2) Siberut Tiku Inter-Island Zone and (3) Tiku Zone. The main catch was 16 types of fish which were the target catch. The biggest catches are mackerel, Gymnocranius griseus and Carangoides armatus. The smallest catch is anchovies. With such a small catch of anchovies, it can be said that Bagan is no longer the main target for anchovies. This change was caused by the difficult fishing areas for anchovies and the cheap selling prices for anchovies.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the practice of illegal fishing in Tanjung Tiram District, Batu Bara Regency, North Sumatra Province, and to examine the causal factors, socio-economic impacts, and the effectiveness of fishery law enforcement in the region. As an archipelagic state, Indonesia possesses vast marine resources; however, illegal fishing practices are still rampant, committed both by foreign vessels and local fishermen. The research employed a juridical-empirical method with a sociological approach, involving interviews, observations, and documentation with traditional fishermen, fisheries officers, and local authorities. The findings reveal that illegal fishing in this area includes the use of trawls, drag nets, and explosives. The main factors driving such activities are weak law enforcement, economic pressure, and low legal awareness among coastal communities. The impacts include marine ecosystem degradation, decreased income of traditional fishermen, and rising social conflicts. This study recommends strengthening inter-agency surveillance, enhancing legal awareness and community education, and developing alternative economic programs to reduce illegal fishing and promote sustainable marine resource management in Indonesia.
