This research was motivated by the low learning motivation of students in Science subjects in Grade VI at SDK Betun-II. The low learning motivation was indicated by the lack of student participation in learning activities, low self-confidence, limited involvement in completing assignments, and low enthusiasm during the learning process. Therefore, a learning model capable of improving students’ learning motivation was needed, one of which is through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL). This study aimed to determine the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model in Science learning to improve the learning motivation of Grade VI students at SDK Betun ll. The type of research used was Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was conducted in two cycles, where each cycle consisted of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of this study were 28 Grade VI students of SDK Betun-ll. Data coIIection techniques included observation, interviews, documentation, and student learning motivation questionnaires. The data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. The results of the study indicated that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model could improve students’ learning motivation in Science subjects for Grade VI students at SDK Betun-II. This improvement was reflected in the increased student participation during learning activities, greater responsibility, discipline, self-confidence, and involvement in solving the problems provided. In Cycle I, students’ learning motivation increased but had not yet reached optimal results, while in Cycle II, a more significant improvement occurred and successfuIIy met the predetermined indicators of success. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model was effective in improving the learning motivation of Grade VI students at SDK Betun-II in Science subjects.
