Abstract

This community service program was carried out with the primary objective of improving the institutional capacity of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) in Kedaton Village, Kedaton Peninjauan Raya District, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency. The focus of the activity was training and mentoring in the preparation of legally based Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), in order to strengthen village business governance in a participatory and sustainable manner. The method used was a participatory approach, involving village officials and the local community in every stage of the activity, from identifying institutional problems, preparing SOP documents, to evaluation and follow-up. This activity was carried out through workshops, focus group discussions, and technical mentoring, so that participants not only received theoretical material but also actively participated in preparing and implementing SOPs relevant to the needs of the BUMDes. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in legal awareness among BUMDes managers and the village community. In addition, a new institution was formed in the form of a Village SOP Team that plays a driving role in the process of preparing and supervising the implementation of SOPs. Local leaders who have a concern for business governance and village community empowerment also emerged. The development of SOPs not only strengthens the administrative aspects of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) but also encourages social transformation. Communities become more involved in decision-making and develop a sense of ownership of village businesses. These findings indicate that integrating a legal approach into community empowerment practices can be an effective strategy for increasing accountability, transparency, and the future sustainability of village businesses.

Abstract

The right to vote is an inherent human right, universally recognized and protected by international law. It is essential to ensure that every eligible citizen is given equal rights and opportunities to participate in the democratic process by casting their vote without exception. Because the non-involvement of persons with disabilities takes away from the true meaning of democracy, they must be involved in the democratic process. If the political rights of a person or group are not fulfilled, the election may be questioned. To guarantee fair elections, persons with disabilities must be equally involved in the electoral process. This study uses a normative analysis method which begins with describing legal facts, then seeks a solution through a critical analysis of existing positive legal norms. Protection for persons with disabilities has existed since Indonesia ratified the UNCRPD in 2011, even the derivative regulations already exist in Law No. 8 of 2016 which regulates the rights of persons with disabilities. Data at the Ogan Komering Ulu Election Commission shows that mental disabilities are the second largest in number of physical disabilities with a total of 256 people in 13 sub-districts in South Ogan Komering Ulu, they are people whose political rights should be protected by being given space to be creative.

Abstract

This article analyzes the decolonization of public international law from the perspective of the Third World Approach to International Law (TWAIL), emphasizing its implications for the global economic structure. Using a qualitative normative research method with a conceptual and historical approach, this study examines how the colonial legacy embedded in international law continues to shape global economic inequality. Data was collected through a review of TWAIL scholarship, international law doctrine, and studies on global political economy. The analysis shows that international law, while formally neutral, reinforces the economic hierarchy between the Global North and Global South through trade regimes, investment protection standards, and global financial governance. TWAIL offers an alternative framework for reforming international law to support economic justice, strengthen state sovereignty, and expand policy space for development for Global South countries. This article argues that the decolonization of international law is essential for building a more equitable global economic order and highlights the relevance of TWAIL to contemporary debates on development and global inequality.
