Abstract

Occupational fatigue is a significant factor that increases the risk of accidents in the shipping industry, especially for crew members working under high stress and strenuous operational conditions. Several incidents, such as crew members falling into the water and fingers being pinched in barge bolder, demonstrate the link between fatigue and occupational risk. This study aims to identify the causes of fatigue in ship crew, its impact on work safety, and prevention efforts in the ship’s operational environment. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method to determine the impact of fatigue on the risk of incidents on ship crews. This research uses data collection techniques with observation, documentation, interviews with safety officers, crew, and ship captains and literature studies. Data analysis is carried out through several stages, such as data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing or verification. For validity, researchers use triangulation of sources and triangulation of techniques so that the data is declared valid. The results of the study indicate that work fatigue in the crew of PT Dian Ciptamas Agung is influenced by irregular working hours, lack of adequate rest time, and high workload pressure. These conditions contribute to the increasing risk of incidents on board. To overcome this, systematic steps are needed by the company such as rearranging work schedules and rest times, providing safety training for crew, and monitoring work duration. Evaluation and strengthening of fatigue management policies are key to efforts to minimize the risk of incidents on an ongoing basis.

Abstract

MV. Megah Pacific is a Cargo Container ship. This ship carries container cargo from the port of Surabaya to the Port of Waingapu. This ship supplies basic material needs and carries other necessities. Container ships have various cargoes such as eggs, soap, rice and other heavy equipment which will be unloaded and loaded from the port of Surabaya to the port of Waingapu. For smooth loading and unloading of container ships, mobile harbor cranes are needed at the port of Surabaya. A crawler crane located at Waingapu port and assisted with a hydraulic pump in carrying out opening and closing hatches, shifting, anchoring. Background to the problems that occurred at Mv. Megah Pacific is a hydraulic pipe leak. In this case, the researcher aims to review the causal factors of the impact of a hydraulic pipe leak in terms of the loading and unloading, shifting and anchoring processes so that they run smoothly. This research aims to identify the causes of hydraulic pipe leaks, to find out the role of hydraulic pump aids and hydraulic pipes as supporting tools for the smooth process of loading and unloading, shifting, anchoring, to find out how efforts are made to optimize hydraulic pipe leaks so that the loading and unloading process , shifting, lego anchor is not hampered. This research uses qualitative methods, observation data collection methods, interviews and documentation, miles and hub data analysis methods. Researchers found that the influencing factor in the process of loading and unloading, shifting, and anchoring was lack of hydraulic pipe maintenance, resulting in corrosion of the hydraulic pipe which resulted in hydraulic pipe leaks. MV.
