Abstract

This study aimed to develop Android-based digital books on the diversity of Indonesian society, integrating science concepts within the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika framework. Using the Four-D R&D model—Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate—the research produced a digital teaching material for Pancasila and Citizenship Education tailored to ninth-grade students. The content was validated by experts and tested in limited trials, showing that it meets educational standards and effectively supports student understanding of cultural diversity. The digital book integrates text, images, videos, and animations to create an engaging and interactive learning experience. It is designed to be accessible both in class and at home, promoting self-directed learning while fostering appreciation for Indonesia’s multicultural identity. The findings show that this media enhances students’ enthusiasm, motivation, and comprehension of diversity in the context of national unity. By combining technology with civic education, the digital book serves as an innovative tool to strengthen character values and promote harmony among diverse communities. This development contributes to modernizing teaching methods and making more relevant and impactful for today’s digital-native generation.

Abstract

Students' critical and analytical thinking skills in analyzing geographical problems are still low due to the dominance of conventional learning methods, such as lectures, which do not give students the opportunity to digest the material deeply. This study aims to determine the effect of Case Based Learning implementation on the improvement of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) of SMAN 1 Tilatang Kamang students. This research used Quasy Experiment method with quantitative approach and this research design used Pre-test - Post-test Control Group Design. The study population was class X students in the 2024/2025 academic year with a total of 245 students from 7 classes. The research sample consisted of class X.E5 as the control class (34 students) and class X.E3 as the experimental class (33 students) selected using purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques include observation, documentation, and tests using objective questions according to HOTS categories (analyzing, evaluating, creating, critical thinking, and problem solving). The data were analyzed using IBM SPSS 27 with the N-gain test and T-test. The results showed that the average Pre-test of the experimental class was 43.01 and Post-test was 75.07, while the control class obtained Pre-test 40.13 and Post-test 62.99. There was a significant increase in the experimental class. The Paired Sample T-Test test results show a significance level (sig) of 0.001 because the significance is smaller than 0.05, so Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, the application of Case Based Learning has a positive effect on increasing students' HOTS in geography subjects at SMAN 1 Tilatang Kamang, as seen from the learning outcomes and student activities.

Abstract

Low student motivation in learning, lack of student learning outcomes, minimal student understanding of HOTS questions, and lack of student participation in learning. Teachers still use inadequate and monotonous learning models, such as implementing lecture-based learning models that make students feel bored, making the learning less effective and enjoyable. The study aimed to determine how much influence the application of case-based learning to improve students' higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) at SMAN 1 Batipuh. The quantitative research method is experimental. This research design uses a pre-test-post-test control group design. The study population was 143 class XI geography students at Phase F of SMAN 1 Batipuh 2024/2025. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. The sample in this study selected two classes, of which 1 class was used as an experimental class, namely XI geo four and XI geo two as the control group. Data collection techniques were observation, documentation, and testing. The research instrument is a test sheet in the form of an objectif (case study) with an assessment according to the criteria of the higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) category, such as analyzing, evaluating, creating, thinking critically, and solving problems. The data analysis technique uses statistical analysis to process the data obtained. The data obtained from this study were processed with the help of IBM SPSS 30 for the T and N-gain tests. The study results revealed that the application of case-based learning positively improves students' high-order thinking skills (HOTS) in geography subjects at SMAN 1 Batipuh, as seen from students' learning outcomes and learning activities. The results of this study are that there is an effect of the application of Case Based Learning on population dynamics problem material to improve Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) of students in class XI Geo 4. The average post-test of the experimental class was 83.48 and the control class was 53.80. Data analysis using the Paired T-Test from the calculation data obtained a significance level (sig) of 0.001 because the significance is less than 0.05, so HO is rejected and Ha is accepted.

Abstract

Students' creative thinking skills in Geography subjects are still not optimal. This is reflected in the lack of students' ability to generate new ideas, provide alternative solutions to geographical problems, and limited ability to analyze geographical phenomena in depth. The study aimed to determine how much influence the application of 3D diorama media based on the project-based learning (PjBL) model has on improving students' creative thinking skills in geography subjects at SMAN 1 Padang Panjang. The type of quantitative quasi-experimental research comes from the development of actual experiments. The total research population of Phase E SMAN 1 Padang Panjang students in the 2024/2025 Academic Year. The sample determination method used in this study was the purposive sampling technique. The research sample of Phase E class X.9 consisted of 36 students used as the experimental class, and Phase E class X.6 consisted of 36 students used as the control class. Data collection techniques were observation, documentation, and testing. The data obtained from this study were processed with the help of IBM SPSS for the T and N-gain tests. The results of the study revealed that the application of 3D Diorama media based on Project Based Learning (PjBL) Model has a positive and significant effect on students' creative thinking skills in geography subjects at SMAN 1 Padang Panjang in the practical category with an average overall percentage reaching 71.72% in the reasonably creative and the results of the N-Gain test with a value of 65.996% in the reasonably practical category. This shows that the 3D Diorama Media Based on Project Based Learning (PjBL) Model is more effective in improving creative thinking and student learning outcomes than conventional learning models.
