Abstract

This community service activity aims to develop an environmentally conscious village (Desa Peduli Lingkungan) in Ngalang Village, Gedangsari, Gunungkidul, through the introduction and implementation of sustainable waste and resource management practices. The program focused on four key interventions: (1) utilization of maggot (Hermetia illucens) as an alternative feed for catfish to reduce feed costs and enhance growth, (2) application of stacked bucket systems for household organic waste composting to produce liquid organic fertilizer, (3) education on the importance and development of domestic wastewater drainage systems (SPAL), and (4) household waste management using the 3R approach (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). The method involved educational sessions, distribution of pamphlets, pre- and post-tests to assess knowledge improvement, and practical demonstrations. Results showed significant increases in participants’ knowledge and skills across all topics, supported by strong engagement from community members and students involved in the KKN program. These integrated actions promote environmental awareness, support food security, and foster community empowerment using locally appropriate and sustainable technologies. Keywords: maggot, compost, wastewater, waste management, community empowerment

Abstract

The successful management of the medical records unit is a crucial factor in improving the quality of health services. Effective management requires the support of competent human resources and adequate facilities and infrastructure. Panti Nugroho Hospital has implemented Electronic Medical Records (RME) since 2022, but its implementation has not been optimal in all service units. This study aims to identify and analyze the factors that influence the optimization of RME implementation and its impact on improving service quality. The method used is descriptive qualitative with fishbone diagram analysis that includes four main aspects: man (human resources), machine (technological infrastructure), material (system integration), and money (budget). The results show that the man factor involves the lack of adequate training, the machine factor is related to the unoptimized IT infrastructure, the material factor shows uneven system integration, and the money factor reflects budget limitations. The implication of this study is the need for increased continuous training, improved IT infrastructure, integration of RME systems in all service units, and long-term budget planning to support system maintenance. This study provides pr actical recommendations for hospital managers and policy makers in implementing RME effectively, which is expected to improve the overall quality of health services.
