Abstract

The research objective was to analyze the correlation between live weight and body size and internal organs of quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica) fed with supplementary feed in the form of cassava leaf meal.. The use of cassava leaf meal as an alternative feed ingredient is expected to increase the efficiency of livestock production through the utilization of agricultural waste with high nutritional value. This research was conducted in Helumo Village, Suwawa Subdistrict, Bone Bolango District from April to June 2024 using 140 quails. Measures of live weight, length of tibia, tibia, neck, wing, tarsometarsus, and weights of liver, heart, and gizzard. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation. Results showed that live weight was strongly correlated with tarsometarsus length (r = 0.72) and wing length (r = 0.61), and moderately correlated with the weights of internal organs such as liver (r = 0.41), heart (r = 0.50), and gizzard (r = 0.55). Conversely, the correlation between live weight and tibia, tibia, and neck length was weak to very weak. It can be concluded that tarsometarsus length and wing length are potential morphometric indicators to predict quail live weight. This research is expected to serve as a basis for the development of more efficient selection and breeding strategies in quail rearing.Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis hubungan antara bobot hidup dengan ukuran tubuh dan organ dalam burung puyuh (Coturnix coturnix japonica) yang diberi pakan tambahan berupa tepung daun ubi kayu. Penggunaan tepung daun ubi kayu sebagai bahan pakan alternatif diharapkan dapat meningkatkan efisiensi produksi ternak melalui pemanfaatan limbah pertanian yang bernilai nutrisi tinggi. Penelitian dilakukan di Desa Helumo, Kecamatan Suwawa, Kabupaten Bone Bolango selama bulan April hingga Juni 2024 dengan menggunakan 140 ekor burung puyuh. Pengukuran terhadap bobot hidup, panjang tibia, pemur, leher, sayap, tarsometarsus, serta bobot hati, jantung, dan ampela. Analisis data menggunakan korelasi Pearson. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa bobot hidup berkorelasi kuat dengan panjang tarsometarsus (r = 0,72) dan panjang sayap (r = 0,61), serta berkorelasi sedang dengan bobot organ dalam seperti hati (r = 0,41), jantung (r = 0,50), dan ampela (r = 0,55). Sebaliknya, korelasi antara bobot hidup dengan panjang tibia, pemur, dan leher berada dalam kategori lemah hingga sangat lemah. Disimpulkan bahwa panjang tarsometarsus dan panjang sayap merupakan indikator morfometrik yang potensial untuk memprediksi bobot hidup burung puyuh. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi dasar bagi pengembangan strategi seleksi dan pemuliaan yang lebih efisien dalam pemeliharaan puyuh

Abstract

Broiler chicken meat is one of the meats that plays a significant role in meeting the nutritional needs of the community. Meatballs are processed meat that has long been known and is very popular with the Indonesian people. This study aims to observe the physicochemical properties of broiler chicken meatballs using purple sweet potato flour. This study was conducted from June to October 2024 at the Animal Husbandry Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Gorontalo State University. The materials and tools used include a stove, pan, knife, spoon, basin, plastic plate, cutting board, meat grinder, camera, broiler chicken, purple sweet potato flour and salt. This study was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments used were P1: Meatballs with 5% purple sweet potato flour, P2: Meatballs with 10% purple sweet potato flour, P3: Meatballs with 15% purple sweet potato flour, and P4: Meatballs with 20% purple sweet potato flour. The data were processed using analysis of variance based on a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. Purple sweet potato flour in broiler chicken meatballs had no significant effect (P>0.05) on pH value and a significant effect (P<0.01) on water content.
