Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of character education based on compassion in improving the discipline of fifth-grade students at SDN Pasawahan Kidul. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach with a single case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, and analyzed interactively through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that teachers have a good understanding of the concept of compassion as an approach that emphasizes empathy, respect for individual differences, and patient guidance. The strategies implemented include role modeling, habituation of positive values, respectful communication, and involving students in formulating class rules to foster a sense of belonging and responsibility. Students responded positively, showing increased openness, confidence, and awareness in adhering to school rules. The students’ disciplinary behavior improved significantly in punctuality, compliance, task responsibility, and courteous attitudes. Challenges encountered include limited time, diverse student characteristics, and inconsistent family support. Nonetheless, the compassionate approach effectively fostered internal discipline in students in a meaningful and sustainable way. Therefore, compassion-based character education is relevant to be developed more widely in elementary schools as it aligns with moral development theories and Indonesian cultural values of care and togetherness. Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of strategic educational planning in improving life skills for students with hearing impairments (Type B) at SLB Negeri Purwakarta. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The findings indicate that the school has formulated its strategic planning based on the POAC (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, Controlling) management model. The school identifies students' needs and develops life skills programs including self-care, cooking, and handicrafts, supported by visual and experiential learning methods. Although implementation and informal evaluations have shown positive impact on students’ independence and confidence, the documentation and formal assessment systems require further development. This strategic planning model has the potential to be a reference for inclusive schools in developing adaptive, functional, and sustainable life skills education for students with special needs. Abstract

There is still limited research that examines in depth the implementation of transformational leadership of school principals and their impact on teacher performance in the digital era, especially at the junior high school level. The transformation of education in the digital era requires the active role of school principals in encouraging the improvement of teacher performance in an adaptive and sustainable manner. This study aims to find and analyze the transformational leadership of school principals in improving teacher performance in the digital era. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive analysis method. The data collection method was carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. Samples are selected based on purposive sampling. The selected samples were school principals, teachers based on education level and class rank, students based on roles in school organizations. Data analysis is done through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn, with data validity tests using triangulation of sources, techniques, and time. The results of the study show that (1.) school principals have applied transformational leadership principles through the involvement of teachers in deliberation and decision-making as well as encouragement for digital learning adaptation; (2) the implementation of leadership has not been completely consistent, especially related to sudden policy changes and lack of adequate socialization; (3) Leadership has an impact on teacher performance, especially in the planning and implementation of digital learning, and affects the stability of teachers' motivation and work effectiveness. Conclusion: transformational leadership of school principals has great potential in improving teacher performance in the digital era, but its effectiveness is largely determined by policy consistency, clarity of communication, and attention to individual teacher needs. These findings provide theoretical and practical contributions to the development of leadership of school principals that are adaptive to the challenges of educational digital transformation.

Abstract

Digital transformation in education requires teachers to be able to integrate technology as part of a meaningful learning process. One of the main challenges at the elementary school level is the limited use of digital media that is interactive and in accordance with the characteristics of students' development, especially in Indonesian language learning. Canva as a digital design platform has great potential to improve the quality of learning through visualisation of engaging, interactive, and contextual materials. However, in practice, the use of Canva in elementary schools is often not optimally optimized and tends to be limited to simple presentation functions. This study aims to describe and analyze the optimization of the use of Canva in improving the quality of Indonesian learning in grade V students at SDN 3 Munjuljaya Purwakarta. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection was done through learning observations, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and documentation studies of Canva-based learning tools and media. Data analysis is carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing by testing the validity of the data using triangulation of sources and techniques. The results show that Canva's optimization makes a positive contribution to the quality of Indonesian learning. Canva is used by teachers in the planning, implementation, and evaluation stages of learning through the preparation of visual media, infographics, and interactive teaching materials. Using Canva can increase student engagement, clarify material understanding, and create a more engaging and enjoyable learning atmosphere. However, Canva's optimization still faces obstacles in the form of limited mastery of technology by some teachers and limited support facilities. The conclusion of this study shows that Canva is effectively used as an Indonesian learning medium in elementary schools if it is optimized in a planned and sustainable manner. These findings provide practical implications for teachers and schools in developing technology-based learning that is creative and relevant to student needs.
