Abstract

Radiology is important in early detection and risk assessment through real-time imaging. However, radiation safety in radiology installations remains a major concern in protecting patients, medical personnel, and the public from ionizing radiation exposure to avoid exceeding the Dose Limit Value (NBD). This study aims to analyse the results of X-ray radiation exposure and evaluate the radiation safety procedures implemented to reduce the risk of radiation exposure in the Radiology Installation of Panti Nugroho Sleman Hospital. The method used in this research is qualitative with an experimental approach conducted at Radiology Installation of Panti Nugroho Hospital Sleman in August 2024 - January 2025. Data collection was carried out at 10 measurement points where each point was measured three times then the measurement results were calculated using the formula and then compared with BAPETEN Regulation No. 5 of 2016. The results obtained are the value of radiation exposure measurements for 10 points of measurement area on conventional aircraft, namely 0 µSv / hour, 0 µSv / hour, 0.03 µSv / hour, 0 µSv / hour, 0.33 µSv / hour, 0.03 µSv / hour, 0 µSv / hour, 0.13 µSv / hour, 0.03 µSv / hour, and 0 µSv / hour. As well as radiation exposure measurement values for 10 points of measurement area in the panoramic plane, namely 0 µSv/hour, 0 µSv/hour, 0 µSv/hour, 0 µSv/hour, 0.03 µSv/hour, 0 µSv/hour, 0 µSv/hour, 0 µSv/hour, 0 µSv/hour, 0 µSv/hour. In addition, standard operating procedures such as room management, equipment maintenance, provision of aprons, implementation of radiation exposure testing, use of TLD (Thermoluminescence Dosimeter), and health checks have been implemented in a structured manner in order to prevent and protect the safety of all parties and the environment. It is expected that this research can be useful for health aspects for radiation workers such as being able to identify ways to reduce radiation exposure in order to avoid stochastic effects, gene mutations, and so on by developing more effective safety protocols to reduce X-ray radiation exposure for radiology workers and the public.

Abstract

Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) is a computer-based technology designed to manage the acquisition, transmission, storage, distribution, display, and interpretation of medical images across institutions. This system is tightly integrated with imaging processes in the Radiology Department and clinical practices that depend on radiological examinations. At the Radiology Installation of RSUD Panembahan Senopati Bantul, the delivery of radiology results has become more efficient with PACS. For internal hospital patients, results are distributed electronically to radiologists and clinical specialists without printing. However, for referred patients from external hospitals or those being referred out, printed film remains necessary. This study applied a descriptive quantitative design, conducted in the Radiology Installation of RSUD Panembahan Senopati Bantul from May 5th to May 10th, 2025. Respondents consisted of 20 radiographers, and data collection was carried out using a Guttman scale questionnaire. The data were analyzed descriptively, with validity and reliability testing. Findings indicate that most respondents possess a strong understanding and acceptance of PACS, demonstrated by the predominance of “Yes” answers, some reaching 100%. This highlights the system’s optimal utilization and its positive contribution to service speed, patient data security, and workflow efficiency. The majority of respondents confirmed that PACS significantly improves radiology services, though some indicators showed varied responses, suggesting areas for further development.

Abstract

Abstract

The 50º clavicle radiography examination at the Radiology Installation of Yogyakarta City Hospital added a 50º cephalad Axial (AP) projection. The purpose of this study was to determine the post-ORIF radiographic examination procedure for clavicle fracture cases with a 50º angle, the resulting diagnostic information, and the reasons for using an additional 50º Axial (AP) projection. This study used a qualitative case study approach at the Radiology Installation of Yogyakarta City Hospital. The data collection methods used were observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out by data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study were that the 50º clavicle radiography examination procedure at the Radiology Installation of Yogyakarta City Hospital was carried out with general patient preparation by removing metal objects, the patient positioned supine, the object position was adjusted to the mid-clavicle detector, the acromioclavicle and sternoclavicle joints were not cut. The central point was the mid-clavicle, the horizontal central ray was 50º cephalad perpendicular to the detector, and collimation was minimized. The resulting diagnostic information pays attention to the superimposed clavicle body with plates and screws, the fracture line on the clavicle, looking at the joint space in the shoulder. The reason for using the 50º projection is to obtain diagnostic information on the entire clavicle without superimposition on plates and screws, scapula, ribs, and patient follow-up assessment. The use of the 50º cephalad projection in the Radiology Installation of Yogyakarta City Hospital can provide diagnostics, especially focusing on information on the superimposed clavicle with plates and screws, and the fracture line.
