Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the ethnomathematics in the traditional house of Tago'o Village, North Wewewa District and its introduction in learning at SMA Negeri 1 North Wewewa. This research adopted qualitative and exploratory methods with research subjects consisting of traditional leaders, hosts, and traditional house builders in Tago'o Village. The results revealed several findings related to traditional houses in Tago'o Village, such as the trapezium on the front view of the traditional house tower, the triangular shape seen from the side, and the concept of intersecting lines called karaga umma. The structure of the traditional house shows the use of wood that forms horizontal and intersecting lines, with the pillars of the traditional house forming vertical and perpendicular lines. In addition, the study also identified various geometric shapes such as blocks, rectangles, squares, circles, tubes, spheres and acute angles found in various parts of the traditional house, from the inside such as food storage to the outside such as under the house for pets. These findings provide an overview of the use of mathematical concepts related to the design and structure of the traditional houses of Tago'o Village. The implication is that this knowledge can be applied in the context of learning at SMA Negeri 1 Wewewa Utara to enrich students' understanding of mathematics in everyday life based on local wisdom.

Abstract

This research aims to explore and understand the mathematical concepts found in historical artifacts at the Sumba cultural house museum. The method used in this study is qualitative with an ethnographic approach. Data collection is done through observation and interviews, and data analysis. The data collection techniques in this research are observation, interviews, and documentation. The main instrument in this study is the researcher themselves, and the tools used are observation guidelines, interview guidelines, and documentation. The data analysis process is carried out through several stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or verification. The research results show that in the Sumba Cultural House museum there are various types of artifacts, including drums, ancient statues, jars, machetes, shields, gongs, tombstones, and various kinds of jewelry. The mathematical concepts applied to the artifacts in the Sumba Cultural House museum are the concepts of flat shapes and solid shapes. The flat shape concepts applied include squares, rectangles, triangles, kites, rhombuses, and circles. Meanwhile, the solid shape concepts applied include cubes, rectangular prisms, cylinders, and cones.

Abstract

This study focuses on improving the critical thinking skills of tenth-grade students at SMA Swata Bukambero on the subject of two-variable linear equation systems using the problem-based learning model. This study used the Classroom Action Research method, involving 30 students from class XA as research subjects. The object of this study was to improve students' critical thinking skills in solving problems on SPLDV. This study was conducted in two cycles with the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation sheets and test questions, then analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The results of the analysis showed positive changes, including an increase in student enthusiasm in participating in the lesson. Based on the average value of the concept understanding test in cycles I and II, the number of students who completed the first cycle was 13 students with a classical completion percentage of 43.4%, while in cycle II there were 25 students who completed the classical completion percentage of 83.4%. From the above results, it can be concluded that the problem-based learning model can improve students' critical thinking skills on the subject of two-variable linear equation systems.
