Abstract

Ethnomathematics is a field of science that studies the relationship between mathematics and culture. This research aims to: find out the form of geometry contained in the Prai Ijing traditional house and find out the utilisation of geometry aspects in schools. The object of this research is the culture that develops in the community in the village of Prai Ijing. The type of research used in this study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. In particular, this study uses an ethnographic research approach. The results obtained are the form of geometry found in traditional houses are isosceles trapezoids, isosceles triangles, blocks, and pyramids and the benefits of geometry aspects in schools are in mathematics lessons there is a subject matter that is geometry

Abstract

Pendekatan Metakognitif-Diskursif menggunakan sistem kategori memberikan dampak signifikan pada peningkatan pemahaman siswa, pengembangan keterampilan metakognitif, serta meningkatkan interaksi dan diskusi yang produktif dalam pembelajaran matematika. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses pembelajaran matematika dengan pendekatan metakognitif-diskursif menggunakan sistem kategori. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan melibatkan 18 siswa kelas VIII A SMPK St. Paulus karuni yang mengikuti pembelajaran matematika dengan pendekatan metakognitif-diskursif. Kami menggunakan instrumen berupa lintasan belajar, buku kerja siswa dan lembar catatan harian. Data yang dikumpulkan dianalisis melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, hingga penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas metakognitif lebih dominan dilakukan antara siswa dengan siswa sendiri tanpa dibantu oleh guru. Proses pembelajaran ini juga tidak terdapat aktivitas diskursif negatif. Sebaliknya guru membangun budaya diskursif yang berdampak signifikan bagi siswa sehingga siswa terlibat dalam diskusi diantara mereka sendiri. Hasil analisis sistem kategori juga menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar aktivitas belajar didominasi oleh siswa.

Abstract

This study aims to determine student errors and the causes of student errors in solving trigonometric identity problems in class XI MIA SMAK St. Dominic Tambolaka. The type of research used is qualitative descriptive. The subjects of the study were 18 class XI MIA students at SMAK St. Dominikus Tambolaka. Data collection techniques use written tests and interviews. The results showed the percentage of errors made by students in solving math problems related to trigonometric identity. The causes of student errors include rushing to read math problems, not having the ability to focus attention on learning, not mastering trigonometric identity material, not understanding the formula that should be used, not being careful in carrying out the calculation process, carelessly doing problems because of previous mistakes, and rushing in working on the solving process.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan pemecahan masalah dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita pada materi aritmetika sosial dengan menggunakan indikator Polya dan dikolaborasikan dengan siklus modelling dari Blum & Leiss. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa-siswi SMPK St. Paulus Karuni kelas IX A. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, tes, wawancara, dan dokumentasi hasil tes. Instrumen pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah lembar tes tertulis, pedoman wawancara dan alat dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa yang telah belajar menggunakan pendekatan Metakognitif–Diskursif pada materi aritmetika sosial diperoleh hasil tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah yang dikelompokkan ke dalam beberapa kriteria yaitu kriteria baik, cukup, dan kurang. Pembahasan hasil analisis akan diuraian kemampuan pemecahan masalah. (a) semua siswa mampu memenuhi 4 indikator kemampuan pemecahan masalah yang dikemukakan oleh Polya dan siklus modelling dari Blum & Leis, akan tetapi tahapan yang ke 4 tidak dijalankan secara maksimal karena dalam soal tidak diperjelas bahwa harus dibuktikan. (b) terdapat 11 siswa dengan kategori baik yaitu siswa tanpa melakukan kesalahan dalam menyelesaikan masalah (c) terdapat 2 siswa dengan kategori cukup yaitu siswa yang melakukan kesalahan dalam perhitungan, dan (d) terdapat 3 siswa dengan kategori kurang yaitu siswa yang dalam tahap memahami masalah siswa melakukan kesalahan dalam menuliskan informasi awal, dalam membuat rencana siswa salah dalam menentukan rumus yang akan digunakan, dan dalam proses perhitungan siswa salah dalam melihat nol dibelakang tanda koma. Pada bagian memeriksa kembali tidak dilakukan oleh siswa karena tidak ada perintah dalam soal untuk dibuktikan jawabannya. Dan siswa tidak terbiasa untuk melakukan sesuatu tanpa diminta.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine students' mathematical communication skills after the application of the problem based learning model of number pattern material in grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 4 Loura. The type of research is a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection uses interviews and documentation. The data analysis process is carried out qualitatively consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study showed that from each level of the percentage level of the student communication ability category, namely the percentage level of the high category was 20%, medium 20% and low 60%. The impact of this ability is that students do not relearn the material that has been given during learning and do not pay attention to the researcher delivering the material

Abstract

In general, the North Wewewa Wewewa Woven Fabric of Bokuna Village is passed down from the ancestors and followed until now this Woven Fabric has beautiful motifs made based on daily life and also from nature. Ethnomathematics is a bridge between culture and mathematics, ethmomathematics is adapted by cultural groups to see that the culture contains mathematical aspects. This research aims to find out the concept of geometry in Woven Fabrics. The data collected is in the form of documentation, interviews, and observation results. The type of research used in qualitative descriptive is to describe the mathematical elements contained in woven fabrics. Data collection uses observation and interviews. Data analysis is carried out qualitatively with the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the analysis show that Woven Fabrics are sacred crafts that are inherited from ancestors or from generation to generation. In the study, the researcher found several one-dimensional and two-dimensional buildings. The geometric shapes found by the researcher are: rectangular shape on the entire shape of the woven fabric, an equilateral triangle shape on the mamuli motif, an isosceles triangle shape on the flower motif, a bele ketupat shape on the star motif, a rectangular shape on the entire woven fabric, a square shape on the butterfly motif

Abstract

This study aims to find out the difficulties of students in solving PLSV problems using the demonstration method for grade VII students of SMP Negeri 5 Lamboya. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. 14 students as subjects to be researched to the extent to which the students can work on one-variable lienar equation problems. The data collection methods used are tests, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is carried out qualitatively with the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study showed that there was still a lack of ability of students to solve PLSV questions that answered the questions correctly and incorrectly. The results of the analysis for problems number 1, 2 and 3 were at the stage of difficulty in interpreting mathematical language (59.66%), the stage of difficulty in using data (64.33%), the stage of difficulty in mastering concepts correctly (66.66%), the stage of difficulty in using calculation operations (66.66%), and the stage of difficulty in drawing conclusions (83.33%). The cause of incompetence is that students do not read the questions carefully so that they make mistakes in writing down what is known and what is asked, so that they are less able to solve problems, in a hurry so that others are incomplete.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the mathematical reasoning abilities of students in solving problems on the topic of Systems Of Linear Equations In Two Variables at SMP Negeri 6 Kodi. The type of this research is qualitative research. The subjects of this research are all the students of class VIII B at SMP Negeri 6 Kodi, totaling 29 students. The interview subjects were three students from each category, namely the high, medium, and low categories. The object of this research is for the researcher to understand the mathematical reasoning abilities of the students. The data collection techniques used are written tests, interviews, and documentation. Based on the reserch results, the mathematical reasoning ability on the topic of systems of two variable linear equations (SPLDV) for students in class VIII B SMP Negeri 6 Kodi shows variation in meeting the reasoning indicators. Students with high mathematical reasoning ability are able to meet for mathematical reasoning indicators in solving SPLDV problems. Students with moderate mathematical reasoning ability can meet three indicators, while students with low mathematical reasoning ability can only meet one reasoning indicator in solving SPLDV problems. So, the researcher can conclude that the mathematical reasoning ability of the eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 6 Kodi is still very low

Abstract

This research aims to explore ethnomathematics in maghana penda crafts in Kalembu Kaha Village, Tambolaka City District, Southwest Sumba. Ethnomathematics is a science used to understand how mathematics is adapted from a culture and serves to express the relationship between culture and mathematics. This type of research is qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. The subject of the study is the place where the data for the research variables are obtained. Data analysis techniques in this study were carried out during and after data collection. The results of the research show that several pandan woven crafts in Kalembu Kaha village contain mathematical concepts such as rectangles, rhombuses, triangles and cylinders which can be used in contextual mathematics learning at school.

Abstract

This study focuses on identifying ethnomathematics in woven fabric motifs in Weelonda Village, with ethnomathematics understood as the study of the adaptation of mathematics in culture and its interactions. This type of research is qualitative research using an ethnographic approach. The subjects in this study were woven fabric weavers in Weelonda Village, Southwest Sumba Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. The data analysis technique in this study was to systematically search for and compile data obtained from interviews, observations, and documentation. The results showed that several woven fabric motifs in Weelonda Village integrate mathematical concepts such as geometry (squares, rhombuses, triangles), making them relevant for contextual mathematics learning.
