Abstract

This study aims to improve students’ teaching skills in the Teaching Skills and Micro Teaching course through mentoring methods. The research employed a qualitative approach with six students of the Biology Education Study Program, FMIPA UNESA, as participants. The procedure involved two stages of peer teaching accompanied by a mentor. Data were collected through observation, assessment sheets, and student reflections. The results indicated a significant improvement in various teaching skills, ranging from questioning skills, reinforcement, teaching variations, to classroom management. The average teaching skills score increased by more than 150% after mentoring. This study concludes that mentoring is effective in enhancing the pedagogical competence of prospective teachers.
