Abstract

Studi terhadap pendekatan Montgomery Watt dalam memahami hubungan Islam dan agama-agama samawi menjadi relevan dalam konteks perkembangan studi Al-Qur’an kontemporer, terutama terkait persoalan metodologis dan perspektif tafsir. Watt, sebagai tokoh orientalis terkemuka, menawarkan analisis historis terhadap kemunculan Islam yang ia tempatkan sebagai produk dari kondisi sosial dan religius Arab pra-Islam. Pendekatan ini memunculkan problem epistemologis, terutama ketika menempatkan wahyu sebagai respons terhadap krisis sosial, bukan sebagai entitas transenden. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini merumuskan pertanyaan, bagaimana pendekatan Montgomery Watt dalam menafsirkan hubungan Islam dengan agama-agama samawi, serta bagaimana pendekatan tersebut dibandingkan dengan metodologi tafsir dalam khazanah keislaman. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan analisis konten kritis, yakni membedah karya-karya Montgomery Watt terkait sejarah Nabi Muhammad dan kemunculan Islam, serta mengkaji tanggapan para sarjana Muslim atas pendekatannya. Data dikaji melalui perspektif tafsir klasik dan kontemporer, untuk memetakan titik temu dan perbedaan antara pendekatan historis-sosiologis Watt dan metode tafsir normatif. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan Watt cenderung reduksionistik dan bersifat historis-empiris, sehingga berpotensi mengabaikan dimensi teologis dalam Al-Qur’an. Sebaliknya, metode tafsir dalam tradisi Islam menempatkan Al-Qur’an sebagai wahyu transenden yang tidak bisa dipahami semata-mata melalui konteks sejarah. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan pendekatan interdisipliner dalam studi Al-Qur’an, dengan tetap menjaga keseimbangan antara konteks historis dan pesan normatif wahyu sebagai jalan tengah yang metodologis dan teologis.

Abstract

The shift in modern consumption patterns, marked by increased intake of instant and processed foods, has raised concerns about health and religious matters. Islam emphasizes the concept of halal and thayyib (good) food, which focuses not only on legal permissibility but also on health and overall benefits. This study aims to analyze the concept of halal food from the perspective of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) tafsir and to evaluate the effectiveness of the real food campaign promoted by the social media account @tammyukhti in raising public awareness of healthy, halal eating. A qualitative method was used, combining literature review and netnographic analysis to observe content and interactions on digital platforms. The findings reveal that Kemenag's interpretation stresses the importance of balancing halal status with nutritional quality. The real food campaign by @tammyukhti has been effective in raising awareness of the benefits of consuming natural, minimally processed foods, though challenges remain in shifting consumption habits. The study recommends enhancing halal food education through social media and fostering collaboration between government, academia, and health practitioners to strengthen public understanding of halal and thayyib.

Abstract

Teacher performance remains a critical issue in Islamic-based schools, particularly in ensuring instructional quality alongside the internalization of religious values. This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of Islamic-oriented academic supervision documents and explain their relationship to improving teacher performance at SMP Al-Hikmah Way Kanan, Lampung. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through document analysis of supervision programs and instruments, limited observations of supervision implementation, and in-depth interviews with one principal and 4 supervised teachers. The findings indicate that Islamic academic supervision documents at SMP Al-Hikmah are systematically structured and integrated with Islamic values, encompassing supervision planning, classroom observation instruments, teacher performance evaluation formats, and follow-up action plans. The implementation of Islamic academic supervision is carried out through a humanistic participatory coaching pattern, in which the principal acts as both a moral-spiritual mentor and a technical supervisor. The study reveals that Islamic academic supervision positively influences teacher performance, as reflected in improved lesson planning, increased variation in teaching methods, strengthened professional attitudes, and the development of teachers’ awareness of teaching as a religious responsibility. Thus, Islamic academic supervision can be positioned as a strategic managerial instrument for improving teacher performance and learning quality in Islamic schools.
