Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis remains a major health issue worldwide, with an increase every year. Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by the Mycobacterium Tuberculosis (MTB) bacteria, which can spread through the air from one person to another. This study aims to determine the relationship between smoking habits and lung tuberculosis incidence in adult patients in the Working Area of Telaga Dewa and Sawah Lebar Public Health Centers, Bengkulu City. The method used is an analytical observational research design with a case-control approach. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires to 54 respondents with lung tuberculosis and 54 individuals who do not have lung tuberculosis at Telaga Dewa and Sawah Lebar Health Centers using total sampling technique. The results showed that from 54 respondents in the case group with light smoking habits, there were 14 (25.9%) respondents who experienced lung tuberculosis. From 54 respondents in the control group with light smoking habits, 28 (51.9%) respondents did not experience lung tuberculosis. There is a significant relationship between smoking habits and the incidence of lung tuberculosis (p-value < 0.022). It is recommended that the results of this study be used as information and consideration in addressing issues within health programs related to lung tuberculosis in the Working Area of Telaga Dewa and Sawah Lebar Health Centers, Bengkulu City.

Abstract

According to data from the World Health Organisation (WHO), the number of people suffering from mental health disorders has increased to 450 adolescents, and currently the peak number of people suffering from mental health disorders worldwide has reached 1 billion people, with a prevalence of 20% among adolescents. Data from We Are Social and Houtsuite shows that social media users are estimated to reach 4.62 billion worldwide by January 2022. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between social media use and parenting styles with adolescent mental health at SMK N 03 Kota Bengkulu in 2024. The method used was a quantitative research design employing an analytical cross-sectional study design. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires to 91 adolescent respondents at SMK N 03 Kota Bengkulu. The sampling technique used was proportional stratified random sampling. The results of the study revealed that nearly half of the respondents (44.0%) fell into the ‘frequent’ category for social media use, the majority of respondents (70.3%) had permissive parenting styles, and more than half of the respondents (59.3%) exhibited emotional mental disorders. Statistical tests revealed that social media use (0.012) and parenting style (0.146) were associated with mental health among adolescents at SMK N 03 Kota Bengkulu. There was a relationship between social media use and mental health among adolescents at SMK N 03 Kota Bengkulu in 2024, but no relationship between parenting style and mental health. Nearly half of the respondents (44.0%) use social media frequently.

Abstract

Based on the percentage of countries with the largest tobacco producers in the world, Indonesia is in sixth place with a tobacco production of 136 thousand tons or around 1.91% of the world's total tobacco production. The number of smokers in the world reaches 2.8 billion people, where every year there are 5 million people who die from diseases caused by cigarettes. This study aims to determine the relationship between Self Efficacy and Perception of Advertising on Cigarette Packs with Motivation to Quit Smoking in Adolescents of SMA 4 Smokers in Rejang Lebong Regency in 2024. The method used is an analytical research design with cross sectional. The population in this study were male adolescents at SMA Negeri 4 Rejang Lebong, sampling using the random sampling method (random) of 55 students, using chi-Square analysis. The results of the study showed that out of 55 respondents, almost most of the respondents had Good Self Efficacy, most of the respondents had Good Perception of Cigarette Advertising, most of the respondents had Low Motivation to Quit Smoking. There is a significant relationship between Self Efficacy and Perception of Advertisements on Cigarette Packs with Motivation to Quit Smoking in Adolescent Smokers at SMA Negeri 4 Rejang Lebong Regency in 2024, (p=0.001, 0.034) (p=0.000). It is recommended for schools and guidance and counseling teachers to provide guidance to adolescent smokers in high school to avoid future health complications that can damage adolescent mindsets.
