Abstract

This study aims to improve the mathematical problem solving skills of students in class X MIA-4 MAN 1 Padang Lawas by using the Index Card Match learning model. This type of research is a class action research conducted in 2 cycles, each cycle consists of 2 meetings. The subjects of this study were students of class X MIA-4 MAN 1 Padang Lawas in the 2024/2025 school year totaling 28 students. Based on the results of the mathematical problem solving ability test given to students, the number of students who completed the initial observation was 6 people, cycle I was 19 people, and cycle II was 25 out of 28 students. While the percentage of classical completeness in pre-research was 21.43%, cycle I was 67.85%, and cycle II was 89.29%. The increase in the percentage of classical completeness was 67.86%, from 21.43% to 89.29%. In addition, each indicator of students' mathematical problem solving ability increased in each cycle. The increase in the percentage of mastery of the indicator of problem solving ability that best understands the problem is 87.85%. While the lowest percentage of mastery of problem solving ability indicators is checking back, which is 77.14%. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the Index Card Match learning model can improve the mathematical problem solving skills of students in class X MIA-4 MAN 1 Padang Lawas

Abstract

Kemampuan komunikasi matematika adalah salah satu kemampuan dari sekian banyaknya skill matematika yang wajib ada di dalam diri siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui model pembelajaran open ended dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematika siswa di kelas VII MTsS Syakira Barumun T.A 2024/2025. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan dua siklus yaitu siklus I dan siklus II, dari setiap siklus terdiri dari tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa di kelas VII MTsS Syakira Barumun dengan jumlah 14 siswa yang terdiri dari 6 laki-laki dan 8 perempuan. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah observasi dan tes tertulis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran open ended dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematika siswa di kelas VII MTsS Syakira Barumun T.A 2024/2025. Peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematika siswa setelah diterapkan model pembelajaran Open Ended di kelas VII MTsS Syakira Barumun T.A 2024/2025 menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pada setiap pertemuan hal ini dapat dilihat dari rata-rata hasil tes pada siklus I sebesar 60, jumlah siswa yang tuntas sebanyak 7 siswa dengan persentase 50%, dan rata-rata hasil tes siklus II sebesar 80,71, hal ini menunjukkan adanya peningktan yang signifikan menjadi 12 siswa dengan persentase 86%. Berdasarkan data ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran open ended secara bertahap berhasil meningkatkan persentase ketuntasan hasil tes dari kategori rendah menjadi kategori baik.

Abstract

So far, the use of teaching materials in class VII of SMP N 1 Barumun is still less interesting and the learning method tends to be teacher-centered. Students' problem-solving abilities are also still poor with a percentage of student completion in the pre-test of 16.67%. So in an effort to improve students' mathematical problem-solving abilities, one of them is by developing teaching materials using the reciprocal teaching model. The teaching materials developed are teacher books, student books, lesson plans and student worksheets. This study aims to determine how to develop teaching materials to improve problem-solving abilities using the reciprocal teaching model in class VII of SMP N 1 Barumun in the 2024/2025 academic year. This research is a research and development (R&D). Using the 4D development model. The results of this study indicate that: (1) The validity of the teaching materials gets a value of 90% which is in the "Very Valid" category. The practicality of the teaching materials gets a value of 91.73% which is in the "Very Practical" category. The effectiveness of the teaching materials gets a value of 86.67%. (2) Mathematics teaching materials developed using the Reciprocal teaching model can increase students' mathematical problem-solving abilities by 70%
