Abstract

This study aims to determine how the Project Based Learning (PBL) model is applied in shaping the character of fifth-grade st udents at GMIT Elementary School No. 7 Oebufu. The study used a descriptive quantitative approach with a case study design, and data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Analysis was conducted by calculating scores and percentages for each character indicator, including responsibility, cooperation, discipline, creativity, honesty, and social awareness. The results showed that the implementation of PBL had a positive and significant impact on strengthening students' character. The percentage of achievement for all indicators was in the good to very good category, with an overall average of 92.08%. The cooperation indicator obtained the highest results, followed by creativity and discipline. Meanwhile, the responsibility, honesty, and social awareness indicators continued to show consistent development in the high category. This confirms that project-based learning is able to activate students in the learning process, encourage independence, and foster positive behavior through direct and collaborative activities. Thus, project-based learning can be used as an alternative, effective learning strategy for developing student character at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the learning difficulties experienced by fifth-grade students in understanding multiplication at SDI Naikoten 1. The research used a descriptive quantitative approach with 24 students as participants. Data were gathered through questionnaires, classroom observations, and students' written work. A 15-item Likert scale questionnaire was used to measure their level of difficulty. The results show that the average score was 2.61, which falls into the "moderate difficulty" category. Most students (47.22%) experienced moderate difficulty, 33.33% were in the low-difficulty category, and 11.11% faced high difficulty. The study found that students' main challenges came from weak understanding of multiplication concepts, dependence on memorization, frequent mistakes in column multiplication, and limited use of concrete teaching aids. Observations and documentation supported these findings by showing similar patterns of conceptual and procedural errors. Overall, the study concludes that students' difficulties arise from both cognitive and instructional factors. Teachers are encouraged to strengthen conceptual understanding using concrete media, apply differentiated teaching, and conduct ongoing formative assessments to support students with different learning needs.

Abstract

The Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) is a government priority policy aimed at improving children's nutritional status, promoting learning readiness, and supporting equitable distribution of educational quality. Adequate nutrition is closely related to students' cognitive development, stamina, and learning resilience, thus influencing their school attendance. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the implementation of the MBG Program and the attendance of fifth-grade elementary school students. The study used a quantitative, descriptive correlational approach, with a sample of 28 fifth-grade students, drawn using a saturated sampling technique. The instruments used were a 3-point Likert scale questionnaire and student attendance data documentation. The descriptive analysis showed an average score of 1.86 for students' perceptions of MBG, which falls into the "tend to agree" category. The median was in the "Agree" category, while the mode was in the "Disagree" category. Despite variations in perceptions, the general trend indicated a positive assessment of the MBG program. Attendance documentation data showed that students with positive perceptions of MBG had higher and more stable attendance rates. These findings indicate a positive relationship between students' perceptions of MBG and attendance, although the study did not use inferential statistical tests. Overall, the implementation of MBG is considered to have contributed to improving students' physical readiness, energy, and motivation to learn, thus increasing their school attendance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze teachers’ perceptions of the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Program (Program Makan Bergizi Gratis/MBG) at SD GMIT Oepura. The MBG program is a national policy initiated by the Indonesian government to improve students’ nutritional status, health, and learning readiness, as well as to reduce stunting among school-age children. This research employed a descriptive quantitative approach using a survey method. The subjects consisted of 19 elementary school teachers who were directly involved in and had adequate knowledge of the MBG program implementation. Data were collected through a closed-ended questionnaire using a Likert scale, which measured six main indicators: teachers’ understanding of the MBG program, program implementation, food quality and suitability, program impact on students, implementation constraints, and teachers’ attitudes and support toward the program. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques by calculating mean scores and categorizing them based on predetermined criteria. The results indicate that teachers’ understanding of the MBG program is categorized as “understand,” program implementation is perceived as “good,” and food quality and suitability are considered “appropriate” according to students’ nutritional needs. The program is also perceived to have a positive impact on students, particularly in improving health conditions and learning motivation. However, several challenges were identified, including limited food storage facilities, coordination issues among stakeholders, and potential disruptions to classroom learning activities. Despite these constraints, teachers demonstrate positive attitudes and strong support for the sustainability of the MBG program. These findings highlight the important role of teachers as key implementers of the program and emphasize the need for improved coordination, adequate infrastructure, and continuous evaluation to optimize the effectiveness and sustainability of the Free Nutritious Meal Program in elementary schools.

Abstract

21st-century education demands that students master 4C skills: critical thinking, creative thinking, communication, and collaboration. Creative thinking is essential for elementary students to generate new ideas, develop flexible solutions, and produce original works. However, preliminary observations at UPTD SD Inpres Oetete 2 revealed that Grade VI students had low creative thinking skills in the IPAS subject, specifically on the topic of International Relations. The average score was 67.2 with a classical completeness of only 38.7% from 31 students. Students were passive, their ideas were limited and uniform, and learning was dominated by teacher-centered lecture methods, which provided little room for creativity. This study aimed to improve students’ creative thinking skills through the implementation of the Project Based Learning model on the topic of International Relations. The research employed Classroom Action Research conducted in two cycles, following the Kemmis and McTaggart model. Each cycle consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects were 31 Grade VI students. Data were collected using teacher and student observation sheets, pretest-posttest written tests measuring fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration based on Torrance’s indicators, project product assessment sheets, and documentation. Data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques. The success indicator was set at a minimum of 80% of students achieving a score of ≥75 and classical completeness of ≥85%. The results showed significant improvement. The class average score increased from 67.2 in the pre-cycle to 73.6 in Cycle I and 87.4 in Cycle II. Classical completeness rose from 38.7% to 54.8% in Cycle I and reached 90.32% in Cycle II, exceeding the success indicator. Student activity improved from 71% in the Good category to 91.5% in the Very Good category. Among the four aspects of creative thinking, Originality and Elaboration showed the most substantial gains, increasing from 66.0% to 85.6% and from 74.8% to 88.2% respectively. The findings indicate that the Project Based Learning model effectively enhances creative thinking skills by providing students with opportunities to design, implement, and present projects actively and contextually. Therefore, it is recommended that teachers adopt PjBL in IPAS learning to foster 21st-century skills in elementary education, especially in schools with limited resources.
