Abstract

Calung Lengger is one of the traditional art from Banyumas, Central Java. Calung Lengger is a tool / media to represent the identity of Banyumas community. Calung Lengger experiencing ups and downs in its development, caused by the progress of science and technology. This influence is very large for the development of the traditional arts of calung and lengger. This traditional art of calung lengger must be defended in order to maintain the existence of art itself. Various efforts are made by art workers by innovation and creation. This innovation and creations by incorporating other traditional arts such as lion dance, art from Tiongkok. This can happen because of the intensive interaction by using the symbols that exist in each art. Symbolic interaction is a continuous relationship between symbols and intercations. The symbol used is a representation of a mutually agreed phenomenon. The interaction between Banyumas and Tionghoa community is bridged by symbols, and the symbol is a verbal symbol that uses art as a means of representing a phenomenon. This intensive interaction also results in a combination of two cultures that occur in a harmonious and peaceful life.

Abstract

Song has a universal appeal that connects all cultures and languages. Besides the potential to make learning interesting and fun, songs as authentic materials are very versatile and can be developed into various learning activities. The purpose of this service activity is to improve speaking and listening skills in Mandarin and master vocabulary more easily. The methods we use in this activity are demonstrations and training. The results of this service activity can be concluded 2 things; Mandarin song applications can improve four competencies in learning foreign languages and can increase children's motivation in learning foreign languages. In addition, it is hoped that the use of songs as a learning medium can provide new references as a way to increase children's learning motivation used in teaching and learning activities (KBM).

Abstract

Abstract. Tionghoanese is one of the societies who are really believes in myth and symbol. They believe that myth and symbol will influence their cultural and social life. Symbols that they use can be in form of color, animals, and plants. Each of them has meaning and can also represent and convey the message to the another society. These symbols usually are used in art performance related to the ritualistic activities, such as Wayang Potehi. Wayang Potehi is a one of traditional art of Tionghoanese that can be a means or media to preserve their existence. Hence, it is not suprising if their life, Tionghoanese always relate to the symbol meaning that they believe good for their life. Keywords: myth, symbol, ritual, media, existence

Abstract

The Chinese television historical drama has attracted world attention. Langya Bang is a successful television drama serial that is considered a social media phenomenon. This research was conducted to explore the heroic aspects of Mei Changsu based on the concept of heroism according to the Confucian teaching. This qualitative descriptive research used John Fiske’s television semiotics method that consisted of three levels: reality level, representation level and ideology level. The results show that at reality level analysis, looking from clothing, appearance, way of speaking, behavior, body movement, expression and environment codes, we can conclude that the protagonist Mei Changsu was represented as a warrior, a scholar and a prince, and can also be considered as a Junzi or a superhero figure with the concept of wen-wu who internalized the virtues in the Confucian teaching. At the representation level, the technical and conventional codes represent the five Confucian ethics are reflected through camera, lighting, music, and audio aspects and at ideology level we can conclude collectivism ideology and patriarchal leadership. Through a semiotic meaning study and the use of television code, we can understand that the television media Langya Bang is the medium to promote traditional Chinese culture and also indirect way to understand the Confucian teaching, in this case is about Confucian ideal of cultivating individual and responsible leader, who devoted to rules for the benefit of society. The representation of Confucianism in the storyline of Langya Bang is important in legalizing the unity of culture, that is Chinese culture.

Abstract

Komodifikasi adalah proses terjadinya perubahan barang atau layanan yang sebelumnya mengikuti aturan sosial non-pasar menjadi suatu subjek yang mengikuti aturan pasar. Kesenian tradisional yang semula sebagai subjek pengetahuan, kebijakan, dan kearifan lokal masyarakat pendukungnya, kemudian berubah menjadi objek berupa benda yang harus diperjualbelikan melalui proses produksi budaya. Dari sinilah lahir komodifikasi budaya berupa transaksi jual beli benda budaya berupa kesenian tradisional.  Perkembangan suatu budaya dipengaruhi oleh kemajuan ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi serta keinginan dari masyarakat itu sendiri untuk berkembang. Budaya merupakan cerminan sebuah masyarakat, salah satunya adalah kesenian tradisional. Sebagai salah satu sarana merepresentasikan identitas masyarakat pendukungnya, harus dilakukan satu upaya agar kesenian tradisional tersebut dapat terus hidup di dalam situasi masyarakat yang sudah mengalami perubahan baik sosial maupun budaya. Perubahan yang terjadi dalam masyarakat bukan hanya dipicu oleh kemajuan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi saja, tetapi juga keinginan dari masyarakat itu sendiri untuk menyesuaikan dengan kemajuan zaman yang terjadi.  Salah satu kesenian tradisional yang harus dipertahankan adalah barongsai. Agar mampu bertahan dalam masyarakat yang telah mengalami perubahan, barongsai berkolaborasi dengan kesenian tradisional Banyumas yaitu calung dan lengger. Kolaborasi ini menghasilkan satu kesenian baru yaitu calengsai yang mengalami komodifikasi untuk menjadikan kesenian tradisional bernilai jual. Selain bernilai jual, komodifikasi dalam calengsai juga merupakan upaya mempertahankan kesenian tradisional. Metode yang diterapkan di dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan menggunakan teori Komodifikasi dari Vincent Mosco.Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi non partisipan dan wawancara mendalam. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah seberapa jauh komodifikasi yang terjadi dalam calengsai mempengaruhi perkembangan budaya Tionghoa yang akan ditulis dalam sebuah artikel jurnal. Kata kunci : komodifikasi, calengsai, kolaborasi, representasi, perubahan sosial budaya

Abstract

Community Service with the title "Implementation of Duolingo E-learning as an Effort to Develop a Mandarin Language Learning Model at Taman Siswa Purwokerto Vocational School" aims to: l) provide science and technology-based training by utilizing Duolingo e-learning in Mandarin, the learning process is in accordance with teaching materials and student abilities , 2) implementing Duolingo e-learning in the learning process with student center learning, 3) advanced learning based on Duolingo e-learning to develop a Chinese language learning model at Taman Siswa School Vocational School. As one of the efforts developed by the school is to provide opportunities for teachers and students to participate actively in developing an effective and efficient learning process. The problem faced by SMK Taman Siswa is the limited teaching media owned by Mandarin teachers. Therefore, there is a need for science and technology-based training by utilizing e-learning for teachers and students at SMK Taman Siswa Purwokerto. The method used in this training activity is to provide intensive training on the use of Duolingo e-learning in the process of learning Mandarin. Measurement is done by way of question and answer using guidelines which are carried out at the beginning as a situation analysis and at the end as an evaluation. The outputs generated from this activity were in the form of articles presented at the National Seminar and the results of a basic monograph on tourism in Mandarin as a professional tour guide.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the level of translation accuracy of students with intermediate-level Mandarin language proficiency, understand the tendency of using different types of dictionaries and their influence on students' translation results, and identify appropriate strategies to enhance the quality of students' translation, especially in terms of translation accuracy. Data collection was conducted through observation techniques, literature review, interviews, and questionnaires. The study focused on the translation of 介词 jiècí (prepositions) and 连词 liáncí (conjunctions) found in second-semester Mandarin language students with HSK 2 equivalent proficiency. The research results still show inaccuracies in translations done by students. Inaccuracies are often found, especially in the translation of 连词 liáncí (conjunctions). This is due to students' lack of understanding of the message context in 介词 jiècí (prepositions) and 连词 liáncí (conjunctions) found in the text. Additionally, the tendency to use Google Translate in translating texts during the learning process is a significant factor contributing to translation inaccuracies. The use of electronic Mandarin-Indonesian language dictionaries is also one of the factors leading to errors in word selection that result in translation inaccuracies.
