Abstract

This study aims to examine the relation between the character's personality and the Japanese motivational concept of ikigai on the murderers of the Kokuhaku’s movie, Yuko Moriguchi, Shuya Watanabe, and Naoki Shimomura. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method with a literary psychology approach. The data analysis technique used is the listening technique followed by the note-taking technique. The personality theory used is Carl G. Jung's theory of personality typology, and the concept of ikigai in this study uses the concept by Akihiro Hasegawa. The results of this study indicate that Yuko Moriguchi has an extroverted-thinking personality and her ikigai is her daughter, then Shuya Watanabe has an introverted-thinking personality with gaining recognition as his ikigai, and Naoki Shimomura has an introverted-thinking personality and his ikigai is gaining recognition. The conclusion that can be drawn from this research is that a person's personality and ikigai influence each other, especially in their behavior.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to find out about the communication culture of Japanese society, namely verbal Aisatsu and non-verbal Ojigi communication practiced by hotel workers Kyuukamura Kishu Kada using phenomenology studies. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using interview techniques as a data collection technique. There are 5 informants from this research. The results found in this study are the Aisatsu verbal communication culture practiced by Kyuukamura Kishu Kada workers varies depending on the interlocutor and the situation. For non-verbal culture, Ojigi is done to show apologies, thanks, and respect for the other person. The more bent in doing Ojigi, the feelings shown are getting deeper. Employees at Kyuukamura Kishu Kada also realize that Aisatsu and Ojigi are very important Japanese communication culture and play an important role, especially in Kyuukamura Kishu Kada.

Abstract

The Chinese television historical drama has attracted world attention. Langya Bang is a successful television drama serial that is considered a social media phenomenon. This research was conducted to explore the heroic aspects of Mei Changsu based on the concept of heroism according to the Confucian teaching. This qualitative descriptive research used John Fiske’s television semiotics method that consisted of three levels: reality level, representation level and ideology level. The results show that at reality level analysis, looking from clothing, appearance, way of speaking, behavior, body movement, expression and environment codes, we can conclude that the protagonist Mei Changsu was represented as a warrior, a scholar and a prince, and can also be considered as a Junzi or a superhero figure with the concept of wen-wu who internalized the virtues in the Confucian teaching. At the representation level, the technical and conventional codes represent the five Confucian ethics are reflected through camera, lighting, music, and audio aspects and at ideology level we can conclude collectivism ideology and patriarchal leadership. Through a semiotic meaning study and the use of television code, we can understand that the television media Langya Bang is the medium to promote traditional Chinese culture and also indirect way to understand the Confucian teaching, in this case is about Confucian ideal of cultivating individual and responsible leader, who devoted to rules for the benefit of society. The representation of Confucianism in the storyline of Langya Bang is important in legalizing the unity of culture, that is Chinese culture.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to explain the relationship between the concept of Ikigai and eudaimonic happiness also with the psychological well-being of Emperor Akihito. This research is a descriptive qualitative type. The data were collected using literature study techniques which are sourced from Akihito Tennou Monogatari manga. The results found that the concept of Ikigai in Emperor Akihito, both in the form of characteristics and Ikigai pillars, all reflected Aristotle's eudaimonic happiness because it was in accordance with the virtue of an emperor, which is being a good emperor with the ability to embrace all his people and establish positive relationships with the international world. The concept of Ikigai also reflects six aspects of Ryff's psychological well-being, that is consist of 1) self-acceptance, 2) positive relationships with others, 3) autonomy, 4) environmental mastery. ), 5) purpose in life, and 6) personal growth. The conclusion is that Emperor Akihito was able to achieve eudaimonic happiness as well as psychological well-being by being a good emperor as a form of his Ikigai.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas penokohan dan ambisi dari tokoh Uchiha Itachi dalam anime Naruto Shippuuden karya Mashashi Kishimoto. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan penokohan dan ambisi dari tokoh Uchiha Itachi muncul untuk mempertahankan kedamaian desa Konoha sebagai pemicu konflik dan membantu penyelesaian konflik dalam alur cerita anime Naruto Shippuuden melalui teori penokohan dan ambisi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif, simak catat, kemudian konsep teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah penokohan dari Nurgiyantoro dan ambisi oleh Widarso. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah dua belas episode anime Naruto Shippuuden yang memunculkan atau mendeskripsikan tokoh Uchiha Itachi meskipun tokoh tersebut bukanlah tokoh utama. Hasil dari penelitian ini ialah penggambaran tokoh Uchiha Itachi dan penggambaran ambisi tokoh Uchiha Itachi mempertahankan kedamaian desa Konoha yang dipengaruhi beberapa faktor dan ambisi buruk.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian untuk mengetahui adanya hegemoni budaya populer Jepang terhadap anggota komunitas Otaku Wonosobo menggunakan teori hegemoni Gramsci. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan teknik wawancara. Informan dari penlitan ini berjumlah 5 orang. Hasil yang ditemukan dalam penelitian ini adalah proses hegemonisasi anggota komunitas Otaku Wonosobo dimulai sejak di bangku SD melalui tayangan anime di televisi. Bentuk hegemoni yang terjadi dalam komunitas Otaku Wonosobo yaitu hegemoni intelektual dan moral yang memiliki dampak berupa lebih condong untuk menyukai budaya Jepang daripada budaya tradisional lokal. Dalam penelitian ini juga menemukan adanya counter hegemoni yang dilakukan oleh anggota komunitas Otaku Wonosobo yaitu tidak memaksakan diri untuk mengikuti budaya populer Jepang serta tetap mengikuti dan merawat budaya lokal.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the semiotic meaning (denotation, konotation, and myth) from the characteristics of kimono kurotomesode using Roland Barthes theory of semiotics. This research is a qualitative descriptive research using library research as a methods of data collection and the data source from Japanology Plus video. The result of the analysis amounts five characteristics of kimono kurotomeosode along with the myth that contained in it, there are crest can be a veiled identifier for knowing the origin of the family, basic black color that indicates social status, has a shorter kimono sleeve that only worn by married woman, pine pattern or matsumon which is a symbol of strength and longevity, and obi with a gold color that symbolizes wealth and widely used for things that are considered honorable in religious life. The meaning of myth in kimono will be different for each type of kimono because the meaning of the myth can’t be separated from the cultural context that constructs it. Abstract

AbstractYuru-chara is one of a type of mascot in Japan that aims to promote local government events, revitalization of villages/cities/provinces, and government institutions. The purpose of this study is to describe the denotative and connotative meanings of yuru-chara from Nara Prefecture, and to interpret the representation of the kawaii and omotenashi concepts contained in the yuru-chara. This research is qualitative interpretive research using library research as a methods of data collection. The data in this study were pictures and photos of yuru-chara Sento kun, Manto kun, Na-ra chan, Renka chan, Narakkii and Nakkyon which were then analyzed using Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis. The results of data analysis show that in every yuru-chara of Nara Prefecture that has been analyzed, there are denotative and connotative meanings that are closely related to the elements of the brand that created the yuru-chara because it’s uses as a promotional media (promotional characters). The representation of the kawaii concept in yuru-kyara is a way to attract people's attention. Omotenashi maintains the collaboration between the brand and the community as well as an image of the friendly culture of Japanese society.Keywords: Kawaii, omotenashi, Roland Barthes’ semiotics, Yuru-chara AbstrakYuru-kyara merupakan salah satu jenis maskot di Jepang yang bertujuan untuk mempromosikan baik acara pemerintahan daerah, revitalisasi desa/kota/provinsi, maupun lembaga/instansi pemerintahan. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mendeskripsikan makna denotasi dan konotasi dari yuru-kyara Prefektur Nara, serta menginterpretasikan bagaimana representasi dari konsep kawaii dan omotenashi yang terdapat pada yuru-kyara tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian interpretatif kualitatif dengan metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode studi pustaka. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa gambar dan foto dari yuru-kyara Sento kun, Manto kun, Na-ra chan, Renka chan, Narakkii dan Nakkyon yang kemudian masing-masing dianalisis menggunakan analisis semiotika Roland Barthes. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa pada setiap yuru-kyara Prefektur Nara yang telah dianalisis, terdapat makna denotasi dan konotasi yang berkaitan erat dengan unsur-unsur dari brand yang menciptakan yuru-kyara tersebut karena Ia berperan sebagai media promosi (promotional characters). Representasi konsep kawaii pada yuru-kyara merupakan sebuah cara untuk dapat memikat perhatian masyarakat. Omotenashi menjaga kerjasama antara brand dengan masyarakat serta sebagai gambaran budaya masyarakat Jepang yang ramah-tamah.Kata kunci: Kawaii, omotenashi, semiotika Roland Barthes, Yuru-kyara

Abstract

People are currently faced with the kaleidoscopic flux of dishes, that almost everyone encounters various foods from around the world, one of which is Japanese Food. The presence of Japanese food in Purwokerto City, Central Java is the consequence of the global power with its capability to produce thoughts and ideas, real or illusory, related to their products and all of which influence local values and cultures. This research studies the impacts of globalization as reflected in the formation of identity and lifestyle in connection with Japanese food consumption. The research’s objective is to study some powers the decision to consume Japanese food is based on from the perspective of popular culture’s influence. The research result shows that according to the participants, media and popular culture products contribute to the formation of layered identities. The globalization of Japanese food consumption culture does not produce cultural homogenization process, as one of many powers in the participants’ life, and media has encouraged heterogenization. Through the concept and practice of appropriation processes, Japanese food consumption has become part to communicate their cultural identity. The presence of Japanese food is one factor of the emergence of a new lifestyle, namely “Japanese lifestyling”, which is one lifestyle practiced by some people of Purwokerto which serves to enrich its consumers’ identity to be individuals who attempt to embrace the world through eating experience.

Abstract

Kampus Mengajar (KM-2) merupakan bagian dari program Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) yang diusung pemerintah guna membantu para tenaga pendidik SMP dan SD dalam proses pembelajaran. Kegiatan ini salah satunya dilangsungkan di SDN 02 Klepu, Semarang, Jawa Tengah yang diikuti oleh siswa kelas 2. Oleh karena target treatment adalah anak kelas rendah sehingga metode pembelajaran literasi yang digunakan yakni melalui sarana permainan yakni kartu huruf, permainan kata (word game), dan baca cepat. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi peran metode belajar sambil bermain terhadap peningkatan kemampuan literasi siswa kelas 2 SDN 02 Klepu. Sudut pandang yang digunakan yakni psikologi kognitif berdasarkan teori Gestalt. Data diperoleh melalui observasi dan studi literatur. Metode permainan tersebut berperan untuk membentuk persepsi awal pada anak dalam hal ini terkait huruf serta kata. Permainan yang diberikan kepada para siswa kelas 2 dilakukan secara bertahap. Hasilnya ditemukan bahwa cara tersebut cukup efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi siswa.
