Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of Ustadz Hanan Attaki’s preaching style on TikTok on the self-motivation of teenagers in understanding and practicing Islamic teachings. A quantitative approach with a survey method was applied to 25 respondents who are TikTok-using teenagers and viewers of Ustadz Hanan Attaki’s da’wah content. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire. The results indicate that a relaxed, relatable, and communicative preaching style significantly influences teens’ religious motivation. A simple linear regression test showed a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.856, indicating that 86% of the variation in self-motivation is explained by the preaching style. These findings highlight the importance of adapting preaching methods to the digital era, particularly through social media platforms.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate how interpersonal influence tactics employed by salespeople, specifically inspirational appeals and ingratiation, impact customer trust. A quantitative approach was employed by distributing questionnaires to 202 customers in Indonesia who had interacted with salespeople to obtain product information or recommendations. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to assess the impact of each tactic on customer trust. The results show that inspirational appeal has a negative and significant effect on customer trust, indicating that emotionally driven or value-oriented messages delivered by salespeople can reduce customer trust, possibly because they are misaligned with customer expectations or needs. In contrast, ingratiation has a negative but not statistically significant effect on customer trust, suggesting that compliments, flattery, or excessive and insincere attempts to win customers’ favor are insufficient to influence their level of trust. These findings suggest that interpersonal influence tactics must be matched to customer characteristics, and not all approaches are equally effective in building trust.

Abstract

The increasing divorce rate has significantly changed family structures, resulting in children being raised by single parents, including fathers as sole caregivers. This study aims to examine the parenting patterns of single fathers towards minors after divorce, using an analytical framework based on the Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah. This study adopted an empirical qualitative approach, using primary data obtained through interviews and observations, as well as secondary data obtained from relevant literature and official documents. The findings indicate that single fathers' parenting practices primarily focus on meeting the child's basic physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. These practices are further analyzed in relation to the five main objectives of Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah (al-ḍarūriyyāt al-khamsah), namely ḥifẓ al-dīn (protection of religion), ḥifẓ al-nafs (protection of life), ḥifẓ al-‘aql (protection of reason), ḥifẓ al-nasl (protection of offspring), and ḥifẓ al-māl (protection of property). This study shows that the parenting patterns adopted by single fathers implicitly contribute to the realization of child welfare (maṣlaḥah), thus reflecting the substantive objectives of Islamic law as outlined in the framework of Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah.
