Abstract

Principals play a strategic role in improving the quality of teaching and teacher performance through supervisory practices. This study aims to describe the implementation of the principal’s supervisory style in enhancing teachers’ job satisfaction at SMK Negeri 1 Gowa. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The participants included the principal, six vice principals, senior teachers, and teachers who were the subjects of supervision. The findings indicate that the principal implemented an integrated, structured, and participatory supervisory style. This approach can be categorized as guided leadership, which emphasizes mentoring, support, and teacher involvement in decision-making. The implementation of supervision was not merely focused on administrative evaluation but functioned as a medium of empowerment through constructive feedback, continuous mentoring, and collective reflection. Teachers reported feeling valued and supported, which positively influenced their motivation, professionalism, work discipline, teaching readiness, and overall job satisfaction. Furthermore, the supervisory practices were closely linked to teacher performance appraisal (PKG) and work target assessments (SKP), contributing to the strengthening of career development and performance-based recognition. These results highlight that a humanistic, educational, and participatory supervisory style fosters a positive school climate, promotes collaboration, and enhances the quality of teaching and learning in vocational education settings.

Abstract

Improving the quality of educational services has become a major demand for schools in meeting student and teacher satisfaction as users of educational services. One relevant approach to addressing this challenge is the implementation of Integrated Quality Management or Total Quality Management (TQM). This study aims to describe the implementation of TQM and analyze its contribution to improving student and teacher satisfaction at UPT SPF SMP Negeri 40 Makassar. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The informants consisted of two students and two teachers selected based on their active involvement in the learning process and school quality management. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the implementation of TQM principles positively influences student and teacher satisfaction. Learning services become more effective through interactive methods and the use of technology such as smartboards, which enhance student participation and understanding. School facilities generally support the learning process, although optimization is still needed, particularly in laboratory utilization and the availability of textbooks. A relatively clean and harmonious school environment contributes to learning comfort. From the teachers’ perspective, management support, effective communication, periodic supervision, and opportunities for professional development strengthen motivation and performance. Therefore, the implementation of Total Quality Management significantly contributes to improving educational service quality and sustaining student and teacher satisfaction.

Abstract

Student attendance management and discipline development play an important role in creating an orderly and conducive learning environment. However, studies that integrate attendance systems with discipline development strategies within the framework of student management at the junior secondary school level remain limited, particularly in practical school contexts. This study aims to analyze the implementation of attendance systems and discipline development strategies for students at SMP Negeri 33 Makassar. This research employs a qualitative approach with a field research design. Data were collected through interviews with homeroom teachers, guidance and counseling teachers, and the vice principal for student affairs, supported by school documentation. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the attendance system implemented combines manual and digital methods to improve the accuracy of monitoring student attendance. Discipline development is carried out in stages through the roles of homeroom teachers, guidance and counseling teachers, and coordination with parents and school authorities. In addition, the implementation of a point-based system for violations and positive behavior serves as an educational discipline strategy without the use of physical punishment. The findings highlight that collaboration among teachers, school leaders, and parents is a key factor in improving student discipline and attendance. This study contributes to strengthening educational management practices through an integrated model of attendance management and character-based discipline development in schools.  [Manajemen kehadiran dan pembinaan disiplin peserta didik memiliki peran penting dalam menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang tertib dan kondusif. Namun, kajian yang mengintegrasikan sistem absensi dengan strategi pembinaan disiplin dalam perspektif manajemen peserta didik di tingkat sekolah menengah pertama masih terbatas, khususnya dalam konteks praktik di sekolah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis implementasi sistem absensi serta strategi pembinaan disiplin peserta didik di SMP Negeri 33 Makassar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian lapangan. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dengan wali kelas, guru bimbingan dan konseling (BK), serta wakil kepala sekolah bidang kesiswaan, yang diperkuat dengan dokumentasi kegiatan sekolah. Analisis data dilakukan melalui tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sistem absensi yang diterapkan menggunakan kombinasi manual dan digital untuk meningkatkan akurasi pemantauan kehadiran siswa. Pembinaan disiplin dilakukan secara bertahap melalui peran wali kelas, guru BK, serta koordinasi dengan orang tua dan pihak sekolah. Selain itu, penerapan sistem poin pelanggaran dan poin positif menjadi strategi pembinaan disiplin yang bersifat edukatif tanpa hukuman fisik. Temuan penelitian menegaskan bahwa kolaborasi antara guru, pimpinan sekolah, dan orang tua menjadi faktor kunci dalam meningkatkan kedisiplinan dan kehadiran peserta didik. Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada penguatan praktik manajemen pendidikan melalui model pengelolaan kehadiran yang terintegrasi dengan pembinaan disiplin berbasis karakter di lingkungan sekolah.]
