Abstract

The phenomenon of trauma to the musculoskeletal system is synonymous with high physical activity, such as exercising and carrying heavy loads. This is due to students' habits of not being serious about warming up, not being careful when exercising and a lack of information about preventative management and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries. This community service activity aims to improve management skills for the prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries at PMR SMAN 1 Kandangan through videos and demonstrations. The activity implementation method consists of three stages, namely cadre selection, cadre training and cadre empowerment (socialization to PMR members). Delivery of education using videos and demonstrations. The target of the activity was 23 students consisting of 3 PMR cadres and 20 PMR members. The community service instrument uses an observation sheet on management skills for prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries. Based on the results of the pre-test and post-test, an increase in the average ability score for all cadres was obtained (from 65 to 98.6). An increase in the average score also occurred for all PMR members (from 47.5 to 88.5). These results show that education and training activities with a cadre empowerment approach through videos and demonstrations can improve the abilities of PMR members in the management of prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries. Material presented by peers (cadres who have received previous training) can be better understood by PMR members. Apart from that, with the video method (seeing pictures and hearing explanations) and demonstrations, all participants have the opportunity to practice again so they can better understand the training material. Empowerment can be an approach in health education for youth groups and video demonstrations can be a method of delivering it.  Keywords : Musculoskeletal Injuries, videos, demonstrations, empowerment, cadres, teenagers

Abstract

Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) is associated with mood instability in adolescents, affecting emotional well-being and daily functioning. Non-pharmacological interventions, such as autogenic relaxation, may help manage these fluctuations. This study examined the effect of autogenic relaxation therapy on mood changes in 88 female adolescents at SMP Negeri 1 Pare, Kediri Regency, using a one-group pretest–posttest pre-experimental design. Mood was assessed with the Four Dimensions Mood Scale (FDMS) and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test. Before the intervention, most participants (61.4%) reported negative mood. After autogenic relaxation, the majority (52.3%) shifted to the positive mood category, with statistically significant improvement (p < 0.001). These results suggest that autogenic relaxation promotes emotional regulation through focused attention and controlled breathing, supporting a physiological relaxation response. Autogenic relaxation appears to be a simple, accessible, and cost-effective method for managing PMS-related mood disturbances in adolescents. However, the absence of a control group and limited demographic scope warrant caution. Future studies with controlled designs and diverse populations are recommended.
