Abstract

Leachate is water from waste seepage that contains heavy metals; therefore, it has the potential to pollute soil, groundwater, and surface water and is dangerous for human health. The content of heavy metals Fe and Pb are important indicators that have an impact on water and soil. Landfill as a place for storing urban waste produces leachate, which is indicated to be contaminated with metal compounds, such as Fe and Pb. The aim of the research is to analyze heavy metals iron (Fe) and lead (Pb) compounds in leachate at the Putri Cempo landfill, Surakarta. This research was located at the Putri Cempo landfill, Surakarta, with leachate water samples taken in the ditch around the landfill. Data analysis used SSA (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry). The heavy metal Fe in the Putri Cempo landfill leachate has a leachate content of 0.62 mg/L, while the heavy metal Pb has a leachate content of 0.07 mg/L. The content of heavy metal compounds Fe and Pb still complies with the quality standards (Ministry of Environment Regulation Number 5 of 2014). Efforts that can be made to minimize the environmental impact on leachate include phytoremediation methods, adsorption methods, as well as anaerobic, aerobic, and denitrification methods.

Abstract

Colomadu District is an area on the outskirts of or around a city that is experiencing rapid development due to the local population’s interest in moving, causing an increase in population. The aim is to determine the projected use of groundwater in Colomadu District, Karanganyar Regency, to determine the use of groundwater needs in each village in Colomadu District, Karanganyar Regency in 2021, and to determine when the balance between supply (availability) and demand of groundwater in Colomadu District will be exceeded or in deficit. The research method used was data collection in the form of sampling, measuring water quality, and interviews. Sampling was carried out by collecting water from the residents' wells and taking as many as two samples per village, which represented the water quality in each village. The samples were collected by first drawing water from the well, then the prepared sample bottles were rinsed three times using sample water (well water), and the rinsed bottles were then filled with sample water. The projection of groundwater use in Colomadu District in 2025 is 3,345,311.68 m3 year-1; in 2030 is 3,716,727.52 m3 year-1; in 2035 is 4,129,380.08 m3 year-1; and in 2040 is 4,587,847.71 m3 year-1. Projections are made until demand exceeds supply, namely, in 2085, when demand can reach 11,833,854.16 m3 year-1 with a population of 272,244 people.

Abstract

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools, as Islamic educational institutions, have a strategic role in shaping the character of caring for the environment through the integration of Islamic values in daily life. One approach that can be applied is to strengthen Green Islamic values to realize the concept of Eco-Pesantren. The Tahfidzul Qur'an Islamic Boarding School of SMA IT Ibnu Abbas Klaten has the potential to develop this concept; however, not all aspects of environmental management are optimal, particularly in waste management, the internalization of ecotheological attitudes, and the active involvement of students. This study aims to: (1) Describe the actual condition of environmental management, especially waste management, at the Tahfidzul Qur'an Islamic Boarding School of SMA IT Ibnu Abbas Klaten, (2) Analyze the understanding and attitude of students towards Green Islamic values, and (3) Formulate a strategy to strengthen Green Islamic values towards Eco-Pesantren. This study employs a mixed-methods approach, incorporating in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation methods. The analysis is conducted through a SWOT approach, which combines internal and external factors, as well as supporting theories such as Islamic Ecotheology, Environmental Literacy, and the Theory of Planned Behavior. The results of the study showed that the survey (n=126) yielded an average score of 4.3 (86.6%), indicating that students already possess a good theological understanding of the importance of protecting the environment as a form of servitude to Allah and as a responsibility of caliphs.
