Abstract

Pemahaman berkomunikasi, khususnya bagi tim public relations atau kehumasan di pemerintah sangat diperlukan. Terlebih telah diamanahi melalui Inpres No. 9 tahun 2015. Berbagai macam tantangan yang tinggi akibat adanya pandemic covid 19, Undang-undang Keterbukaan Informasi Publik, massifnya media digital; mengakibatkan masyarakat lebih kritis dan lebih peduli akan haknya, baik hak politik, hak ekonomi, hak sosial, hak budaya sampai pada hak hukum, kecepatan proses hukum, pelayanan hukum dan transparansi serta akuntabilitas produk hukum. Untuk itu, dibutuhkan pemahaman kehumasan dan keterampilan melakukan hubungan dengan media (media management) yang baik. Hal tersebut diperlukan untuk mendistribusikan data dan informasi sehingga dapat membantu narasi tunggal pemerintah, khususnya membantu menciptakan peradilan yang kredibel. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan dalam bentuk penyuluhan kepada para ketua pengadilan, hakim dan tim hubungan masyarakat di lingkungan Mahkamah Agung. Kegiatan yang dilakukan secara virtual ini memberikan hasil yang bagus dan dapat dilanjutkan di kemudian hari dengan peserta yang berbeda atau dengan peserta yang sama namun dengan materi-materi lainnya seperti community relations, public speaking, agenda setting guna mendukung pemahaman dan keterampilan yang sudah didapatkan. Abstract

Berkomunikasi sering dianggap sesuatu yang simpel, sederhana dan tidak memerlukan suatu keterampilan khusus. Namun berbagai macam masalah komunikasi kerap kali muncul, mulai pada tataran makro di pemerintahan, di korporasi sampai pada level mikro di kehidupan sehari-hari. Berbagai masalah komunikasi sangat penting untuk dipahami lebih dalam agar pada sisi yang lain terus meningkatkan keterampilan berkomunikasi sehingga proses komunikasi berjalan dengan efektif. Terwujudnya komunikasi yang efektif tentu memerlukan ketrampilan komunikasi, salah satunya adalah untuk karier seseorang di segala bidang pekerjaan. Seseorang diharapkan dapat bekerjasama secara efektif dengan orang lain, menyajikan gagasan secara efektif dan lain sebagainya. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan PKM adalah dengan melakukan penyuluhan dengan pihak mitra dengan peserta dari siswa-siswi sekolah menengah kejuruan. Penyuluhan dilakukan secara virtual di tengah pandemic covid 19 dengan mengedepankan simulasi atau roleplay pasa peserta. Penyuluhan ini menunjukkan adanya antusianisme peserta dan juga peningkatan keterampilan berkomunikasi efektif sehingga dapat disarankan untuk dilanjutkan Kata Kunci: komunikasi efektif, ketrampilan, masalah komunikasi

Abstract

Restriction on the broadcasting  of 17 western songs considered full of sexual aspects in the Indonesian province of West Java has given rise to  polemic and criticism. Various reactions, both negative and positive, emerged. Instead of supporting the restriction the Indonesian public appeared to blatantly oppose the policy made by the West Java  Regional Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPID). It is interesting to analyze and study this phenomenon more deeply through the great concepts of Gramsci’s counter hegemony.  Of course, a mature and strategic counter hegemony is needed  to counter   western music hegemony in the  country. The study of counter hegemony has not been widely discussed, especially when it comes to the counter of the counter hegemony itself and this can be the novelty of this study. This phenomenon is analyzed through critical perspective by conducting literature study in several online media sites  related to the topic of this research. The results show that the counter hegemony which was not carried out systematically and strategically with regard to  the restrictions on the broadcasting of 17 western songs in the province of West Java did not yield a fruit in the form of  the hegemony’s downfall. The hegemony of western songs remains strong.  The failure of counter hegemony will strengthen the hegemony of  western songs in Indonesia. For its part, it is necessary to have mature planning and strong collaboration  between political society and civil society to make the counter hegemony run well in an attempt to undermine the hegemony.

Abstract

One of the strong and real cultural dominations in Indonesia is the dominance of Western pop music. In this case, there is a voluntary acceptance by the Indonesian people of Western pop music which leads to the concept of Gramsci's hegemony. The continuity of the hegemony of western pop music in the country has been going on for a very long time, for that of course there is a need for deeper advocacy of the hegemony of western pop music so that the Indonesian people are aware of the ‘colonialism’ of western pop music in the country. This critical paradigm research is supported by a qualitative approach based on the theory of hegemony and supported by the concept of cultural imperialism. The findings of this study are the hegemony of western pop music that is widespread and civil society, namely, the Indonesian people tend to accept it with joy so that it seems that it even perpetuates the hegemony itself. Meanwhile, in the aspect of political society (government), various efforts have been made in advancing the national music industry; but are still considered less than optimal.

Abstract

Perkembangan globalisasi yang massif menyebabkan maraknya budaya populer di berbagai negara, termasuk Indonesia. Budaya Populer merupakan salah satu tahapan dari globalisasi. Perkembangan teknologi budaya yang sudah ada turun termurun, sekarang mulai bergeser karena adanya budaya populer berupa hypebeast di kalangan anak muda; sehingga sangat kental dengan consumer society ala Jean Baudrillard berupa mengangungan simbol, status, prestige dari penampilan anak muda ketimbang nilai guna dari barang tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma kritis dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan dengan pengumpulan data berupa wawancara dengan empat narasumber sebagai data primer. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, anak muda Jakarta lebih mengkonsumsi tanda atau simbol pada citra suatu brand dan juga lebih mementingkan status sosial daripada nilai guna suatu barang yang sangat relevan dengan pemikiran Jean Baudrillard. Namun, sebagai bentuk novelty, peneliti menemukan bahwa ada unsur investasi yang muncul pada proses konsumsi tanda tersebut, walaupun nilai investasi ini masih kalah dengan kepentingan status.

Abstract

Penelitian ini penting karena dilihat dari kesuksesan pembukaan acara Asian Games ke-18 tahun 2018 yang megah dan spektakuler berkaitan dengan reputasi ketua panitia INASGOC. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisa adakah pengaruh dan seberapa besar pengaruh special event pembukaan Asian Games ke 18 tahun 2018 terhadap reputasi ketua panitia INASGOC dari sudut pandang teori harapan melalui special event, dan reputasi. Dalam penelitian ini ada 2 variabel yaitu variabel X (special event) menggunakan 8 dimensi terdiri dari uniqueness, perishability, intangibility, ritual or ceremony, ambience and service, personal contact and interaction, labour intensive, dan fixed timescale sedangkan variabel Y (reputasi) menggunakan 4 dimensi terdiri dari kredibilitas, terpercaya, keterandalan dan tanggung jawab sosial. Penelitian ini melalui metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan menguji regresi linear sederhana, koefisien persamaan regresi, uji anova, analisis korelasi, dan uji normalitas. Responden dalam penelitian ini adalah 100 orang responden yang menonton langsung pembukaan Asian Games ke-18 tahun 2018 di Gelora Bung Karno Jakarta. Penelitian ini mendapatkan hasil dari Pearson Correlation Product Moments menunjukkan sebesar 0,628 bahwa terdapat pengaruh positif dan kuat yang signifikan antara special event pembukan Asian Games ke-18 tahun 2018 terhadap reputasi ketua panitia INASGOC.  Penelitian ini juga terdapat besar pengaruh special event pembukaan Asian Games ke-18 tahun 2018 terhadap reputasi ketua panitia INASGOC adalah 39,4%.

Abstract

Culture can be formed from habits acquired by humans as members of society. Indonesia has so many ethnic groups and produces different habits. From the habits carried out by the community; it is not uncommon to have bad habits and unique habits. This is what makes one of the videos with a cultural theme that is considered satire through one of the social media platforms, which is Youtube, entitled "Only in Indonesia" by LASTDAY Production, interesting to study. Using a descriptive qualitative methodology with Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis which focuses on the meaning of denotation, connotation, and myth; this study aims to determine the representation of Indonesian culture through the scenes in the Youtube video. The results show that there are five of the seven elements of universal culture, namely, social organization systems, technology and equipment systems, knowledge systems, arts, and religion. In addition, the representation of Indonesian culture contained in the video "Only in Indonesia" is a culture that can be said to be negative, seen from the depiction of people's habits. Abstract

The emergence of a variety of social media makes it easier for people to find and obtain information. One of the social media that can provide information in the form of audio and visual without any duration limit is YouTube.YouTube HighEnd Magazine is HighEnd magazine's YouTube channel used as a transformation tool for the magazine. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The purpose of this study is to determine the utilization of social media YouTube as a tool of transformation of HighEnd magazine. Researcher interviewed three different speakers that have different job desks, Larasati Oetomo as digital media officer, Lysia Jessica as editor in chief, and Johan Jang as social media expert. This research uses new media theory and describes media utilization strategies to find out how Highend magazine utilizes YouTube’s social media. This research proves that HighEnd has utilized YouTube social media with six characteristics of New Media as a means of transformation of print media, has also developed strategies in utilizing YouTube based on Audience, Mission, Goal, and Content Strategy.

Abstract

Every human being naturally wants peace, but on the other hand, contradictory traits are also present in the form of hostility and conflict. The film You've Got Mail tells the story of the two main characters who have conflicts with each other in the real world and at the same time also establish good relations with each other through e-mail. This duality is unique and interesting to study more deeply through Erving Goffman's dramaturgical perspective in the form of a front stage and a backstage which can dissect two sides in a social conflict between individuals. Research-based on the constructivism paradigm with a qualitative approach and through Barthes' semiotic analysis, which focuses on four scenes in the film you've got mail; managed to find that the front stage and backstage elements are described in detail, and it can be seen that the front stage is more dominant than the backstage. This has implications for impression management which is thicker on the element of imaging by the communicator. Keywords: Conflict, Dramaturgy, Front Stage, Back Stage, Impression Management

Abstract

Hidden Figures is a film based on the true story of three African American women who help NASA in the space race. The three African American women are Katherine G. Johnson, Mary Jackson, and Dorothy Vaughan. With the setting of the 1960s era, these three women are fighting against a climate of segregation (separation based on race or skin color) in their work environment (NASA). This study aims to explore Patricia Hill Collins’ theory of black feminism and to integrate it with Stella Ting-Toomey’s theory of face-negotiation. This research is based on a critical paradigm and uses a qualitative approach. Using Sara Mills’s critical discourse analysis as a data analysis technique, this study found a representation of black feminism in the film Hidden Figures. The discrimination experienced by the characters is in the form of racism, sexism, and classism. However, the resistance carried out by the characters is through self definition, not in safe spaces as mentioned by Collins. The characters also do not avoid conflict, but use a negotiation approach with a compromising style to achieve a win-win solution.Keywords: Black feminism, face-negotiation, racism, sexism, classism ABSTRAKHidden Figures adalah film yang diangkat berdasarkan kisah nyata tiga perempuan Afro-Amerika yang membantu NASA dalam space race. Ketiga perempuan Afro-Amerika itu adalah Katherine G. Johnson, Mary Jackson, dan Dorothy Vaughan. Dengan setting waktu era 1960-an, ketiga perempuan ini berjuang melawan iklim segregasi (pemisahan berdasarkan pada ras atau warna kulit) di lingkungan kerja mereka (NASA). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendalami teori black feminism Patricia Hill Collins dan hendak mengintegrasikannya dengan teori face-negotiation Stella Ting-Toomey. Penelitian ini didasarkan pada paradigma kritis dan menggunakan penekatan kualitatif. Menggunakan analisis wacana kritis Sara Mills sebagai teknik analisis data, penelitian ini menemukan representasi black feminism di dalam film Hidden Figures. Diskriminasi yang dialami para tokoh adalah berupa racism, sexism, dan classism. Akan tetapi, perlawanan yang dilakukan para tokoh adalah melalui self definition, tidak dilakukan dalam safe spaces sebagaimana disinggung oleh Collins. Para tokoh juga tidak menghindari konflik, namun menggunakan pendekatan negosiasi dengan gaya compromising style dalam mencapai win-win solution.Kata Kunci: Black feminism, face-negotiation, racism, sexism, classism
