Abstract

Background: Competition between traditional media and social media in reaching the attention of the audience has become a necessity. The presence of social media has changed the pattern of media use in society in seeking entertainment and information. To anticipate these changes, television must converge with social media. Convergence is believed not only to be able to maintain the existence of television but also to increase the number of audiences. Purpose: This study aims to identify and explain the management problem in the process of convergence between social media and television at the IVM (Indosiar Visual Mandiri) television editorial team. Methods: This study uses a qualitative approach and a single case study method. The object of the research is the convergence process between social media and television at the IVM television editorial team; the research subjects are informants consisting of the editor-in-chief, news production manager, reporters, and social media managers. The convergence analysis used in this paper was the journalistic convergence model from Pavlik, which looks at the convergence model in newsrooms, newsgathering, and news content. Results: This study indicates that the convergence of social media and television at the IVM television editorial team does not occur in the newsroom model and only occurs not routinely in the news gathering model and content model. However, in order to converge with social media, television broadcasting encountered problems from the management side (organizational structure, work system, and technology infrastructure). Implications: The convergence of newsrooms between television and social media at IVM can be said to have failed due to the non-integration of social media management with IVM editorial staff. Due to the absence of an integrated social media team within the editorial team, there is a lack of handling of interactivity between social media followers and IVM editors.

Abstract

Freire once revealed how education could liberate with the essence of "free"; truly "free". The existence of opportunities, challenges and demands continues to grow, especially for outsider students whose numbers continue to increase from year to year and need to be reviewed by the government. Through the MBKM, the government as the highest political society holder becomes an agent capable of making elements within it to submit and obey any policy made. The objective of the research is to explore the MBKM program that is proposed as a way out of the educational problem that has long been considered not to be able to meet the needs of the post-graduate student industry and titles as a Bachelor's. The goal of the researchers is to critically uncover and analyze the intellectual agents in the education system that dominate the element of the College through the practice of MBKM. The research method uses qualitative descriptive methods by borrowing the concept of Gramsci that produces descriptive data in the form of written and oral words of people and observable behavior. The results of the research show that the MBKM is an extension of the political practice of the state that is playing its role of power. MBKM is a neo-liberalization of education because the role of the state is increasingly diminishing and replacing with the private role. Students are no longer expected to contribute to the self-development or intellectuality of the nation, but what is important is to serve the private.

Abstract

This study aims to further explore the Punk Hijrah community under the auspices of the Laskar Berani Hijrah Foundation, focusing on understanding the meaning of hijrah among its members. The study questions whether hijrah is understood merely as a change in appearance like a Muslim, or if there is a deeper meaning related to changes in behavior and values. Jean Baudrillard's concept of Simulacra, which posits that modern humans often use things based on symbols rather than function and need, serves as a theoretical basis for this research. The research employs a qualitative method with Alfred Schutz's phenomenological approach, emphasizing the construction of meaning. Meaning construction is understood as the process of producing meaning through language, which is always dynamic and open to new interpretations and perspectives. For analysis, the Social Construction of Reality Theory is used as a guide to reveal the meaning of hijrah, the values of hijrah, the motives for hijrah, and the experiences of individuals who have experienced hijrah in the community. Specifically, this study analyzes the perspectives of punk community members who have joined the Laskar Berani Hijrah Foundation in Depok, aiming to uncover how the foundation's culture influences the hijrah desires of these punk youth. Through this research, it is hoped that the meaning of hijrah as understood by foundation members can be discovered, as well as how these values are internalized in their daily lives.

Abstract

Background. Sustainable communication has gained prominence as society tackles social resilience, cultural preservation, and climate change. Numerous studies have investigated environmental groups, business strategies, and media campaigns; however, few have analyzed sustainable communication within the performing arts, especially theater. Teater Koma is a prestigious theater group in Indonesia, and this study seeks to examine the comprehension and dissemination of sustainability among cultural institutions. Aims. This study investigates, through the lens of sustainability communication, (1) Teater Koma members’ concerns about sustainability practices, (2) sustainability communication both internally and externally, and (3) challenges related to acceptance and implementation. Methods. Data was gathered via a qualitative case study, incorporating participant observation, document analysis, and comprehensive interviews. The research indicates that Teater Koma incorporates sustainability into resource management, stage design, intergenerational values, cultural resilience, and narrative strategies. Conclusion. This research enhances the literature on sustainability communication by integrating performance studies with environmental and organizational communication studies. Implementation. It offers Southeast Asian ideas, where the interplay between tradition, modernization, and ecological responsibility is intricately interwoven.
