Abstract

Abstract: This community service activity aims to implement the concept of fun farming as an effort to support the success of agricultural contracts in Purwakarta Regency. Fun farming was chosen as an approach because it can combine educational, recreational, and hands-on aspects that can enhance farmers' knowledge, skills, and motivation in managing their farms sustainably. The implementation methods for the activities include socialization about the importance of agricultural contracts, technical training on horticultural crop cultivation based on simple technology, and intensive mentoring for farmer groups who are partners in the partnership model. This activity was attended by 40 partners. The results of the activity show a significant increase in all three aspects: soil media preparation by 26%, seed planting by 23%, and seedling transfer to polybags by 15%. Additionally, seedling production capacity increased from 2,000 to 10,000 seedlings after the training. This activity has proven effective in improving the competence and productivity of partners. Thus, enjoyable agriculture plays an important role as an innovative strategy in strengthening contract farming systems aimed at increasing productivity, business sustainability, and strengthening the local economy of the community.

Abstract

The role of women in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) for coffee processing in Indonesia is highly significant, particularly in Nagari Koto Tuo, Tanah Datar, West Sumatra. This qualitative study aimed to identify their contributions and analyze the resulting socio-economic impacts. Nationally,  of MSME actors are women; in Koto Tuo, most coffee brand owners are women who inherited their processing skills. Employing a census approach, the research involved 160 women MSME actors, with data analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. Findings indicate women play a crucial role across four aspects: production, marketing, business management, and collaboration networks. This active involvement is driven by socio-cultural factors, economic necessity (acting as the main income source), and personal characteristics (thoroughness and diligence). Their participation yields positive impacts, including enhanced social status, financial independence, and community recognition. Ultimately, women in Koto Tuo are key drivers of family welfare, community development, and successfully challenge traditional gender perceptions.
