Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap kemampuan pemahaman siswa kelas 5 SD Negeri Taraban 01 pada mata pelajaran IPA, khususnya pada materi rantai makanan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK), dengan subjek penelitian terdiri dari 24 siswa kelas 5 sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan dua siklus, dengan setiap siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data meliputi teknik observasi dan tes tulis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan pemahaman siswa sebelum dan sesudah penerapan model pembelajaran problem based learning. Peningkatan rata-rata nilai siswa tercatat sebesar 80 pada siklus I, meningkat menjadi 94 pada siklus II. Selain itu, terdapat peningkatan dalam presentase keaktifan siswa dan kemampuan pemahaman pada siklus II dibandingkan dengan siklus I, yang naik dari 78% menjadi 89%. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran problem based learning efektif dan mampu meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap materi rantai makanan dalam pembelajaran IPA di sekolah dasar. THE APPLICATION OF PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING METHOD IN LEARNING IPA SUBTHEME OF FOOD CHAIN TO IMPROVE THE UNDERSTANDING ABILITY IN 5TH GRADE STUDENTS OF TARABAN 01 ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the effect of using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the understanding ability of 5th grade students of SD Negeri Taraban 01 in science subjects, especially on food chain material. This research used the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method, with the research subjects consisting of 24 grade 5 elementary school students. This research was conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The instruments used to collect data included observation techniques and written tests. The results showed that there was a significant difference between students' comprehension ability before and after the application of problem-based learning model. The increase in the average student score was recorded at 80 in cycle I, increasing to 94 in cycle II. In addition, there was an increase in the percentage of student activeness and comprehension ability in cycle II compared to cycle I, which rose from 78% to 89%. This shows that the problem-based learning model is effective and able to improve students' understanding of food chain material in science learning in elementary schools.
