Abstract

There has been a lot of research on ethnomathematics regarding ombusombus cake, but no one has studied their mathematical value from all aspects of the material other than 2D shapes or 3D shapes. This research aims o look for mathematical activities in North Tapanuli culture and focused on developing the ethnomathematics value of the traditional ombusombus food cake typical of North Tapanuli as a source of mathematics learning. The basic ingredient for making ombus-ombus is rice flour. This research is descriptive qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. Data collection techniques were carried out using observation, documentation, and literature review.  Data analysis techniques using Spradley design: domain analysis, taxonomy, compatibility, and cultural themes. Based on the results of data collection, there were several mathematical elements in the traditional ombus-ombus cake typical of North Tapanuli. The mathematical elements contained include the concept of comparison, flat shapes (triangles and squares), space shapes (quadrangular pyramids), social arithmetic concepts, measurement concepts, and counting concepts. In this way, Ombus-ombus can be used as a medium for teaching mathematics in the classroom.

Abstract

Students have difficulty learning algebra, so they need help to solve it. The biggest challenge students usually face in learning algebra is understanding the concept of variables, equations, and symbolic manipulation. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the practice and practice method with a game approach through the Cymath application in learning algebra in junior high schools. This study used a pretest-posttest experimental design with a control group. The sample consisted of 50 students divided into an experimental group of 30 who used the Cymath application and a control group of 20 who did not use the application. The data collection method used a test. The data collection instrument used a test question sheet. Data analysis testing was carried out using the SPSS software version.27 using Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk test statistics for normality, homogeneity, and independent sample T-test tests. The data analysis results showed a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in terms of improving understanding of algebraic concepts. The experimental group had a standard deviation, which indicated that the scores of students in this group were more centered around the average value. It is concluded that the training and practice method with a game approach through the Cymath application can improve learning outcomes in algebra material.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of World Development Indicators (WDI) on the Human Development Index (HDI) within the regional context of Asian countries. Understanding the interaction between these indicators and HDI holds strategic relevance for enhancing the formulation of evidence-based development policies. The analysis focuses on five key indicators: population growth, voice and accountability, government effectiveness, GDP per capita growth, and control of corruption. These variables represent essential dimensions of governance and socioeconomic advancement. The dataset comprises information from 46 Asian countries sourced from the World Bank. The methodological framework integrates multiple linear regression to evaluate the magnitude of each variable’s contribution to HDI. The Preference Selection Index (PSI) is utilized to establish a performance-based ranking of countries grounded in the selected indicators. Results demonstrate that population growth and government effectiveness have significant impacts on HDI outcomes, while the remaining variables exhibit no statistically significant effects. Comparative analysis using PSI reveals inconsistencies between development indicator values and actual HDI positions. South Korea shows the highest consistency between quantitative rankings and HDI classification. These findings offer practical insights for policy prioritization by identifying the most influential determinants of human development in the region. The study emphasizes the importance of tailored development strategies and encourages future research to strengthen model robustness through control variable inclusion, sensitivity analysis, and non-linear modeling approaches.

Abstract

Digital Math Comic based on the Experience, Interaction, Communication, Reflection (MIKIR) approach is deliberately developed into a learning media needed in mathematics learning activities, especially on the material of Arithmetic Rows and Rows. So the author aims this research to find out the MIKIR-based learning approach that has existed before, the specifications of Digital Math Comic learning media, the feasibility of MIKIR-based Digital Math Comic, the advantages and disadvantages of MIKIR-based Digital Math Comic, and how MIKIR-based Digital Math Comic can increase student interest in learning. This research is a research and development (R&D) method using Thiagarajan's 4-D research model: Define, Design, Develop, and Dessiminate. The subjects of the study were students of grade VIII of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Medan in the academic year 2023/2024 totalling 71 students. The types of data were qualitative data and quantitative data. The data were analysed qualitatively and quantitatively. The research instruments used were Digital Math Comic assessment sheets by material, language, and media expert lecturers, mathematics teachers, peers, student learning interest tests and student response questionnaires. The method of data collection through questionnaires/questionnaire sheets using a Likert scale. The results of this study indicate that the MIKIR-based Digital Math Comic is empirically proven to be valid, feasible to use, and able to increase students' interest in learning. As shown by the average score given by the validators which is 4.35 has a very good classification. Students' learning interest increased as indicated by the percentage increase in learning interest by 23% from 57% to 80%. Then the students' response to Digital Math Comic got a score of 4.2 with a good classification.

Abstract

Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe scramble dapat meningkatkan kemampuan hasil belajar siswa AbstractThis study aims to improve student learning outcomes by applying the scramble-type cooperative learning model to geometric transformation lessons at MAS Ponpes Darul Qur'an for the 2021/2022 academic year. This study follows the classroom action research (CAR) method. This research was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. Data on improving learning outcomes were obtained from the evaluation results of improving student learning outcomes using essay questions given to the tenth-grade students of MIA 3 with a total of 32 students. The results indicate that there was an increase in the learning outcomes of the tenth-grade students of MIA 3 at MAS PONPES Darul Qur'an after learning using the scramble-type cooperative learning model. The increase in student learning outcomes can be seen from the average scores of student learning outcomes tests cycles I and II respectively which are 72.13 and 86.55, as well as the classical learning mastery cycles I and cycle II respectively which are 68.75%. and 90.63%. Thus, it can be concluded that the scramble-type cooperative learning model can improve the ability of student learning outcomes.
