Abstract

Vegetables are a source of nutrients that are important for body health and have a vital role in fulfilling daily nutritional needs. Based on data from Basic Health Research in 2018, children with the age group ranging from 5-9 years old have a proportion that consumes less vegetables and fruit, as much of 96.9%. From this data, only 3.1% consume more than 5 portions of vegetables a week. In fact, the Indonesian population is categorized as consuming enough vegetables and fruit if they consume at least 5 portions a week. Many factors cause this condition, one of them is a lack of knowledge about vegetables. Education on vegetable cultivation is a solution to this problem. This research is a type of qualitative research. The result of this research shows that education and practice of vegetables cultivation have positive values and perceptions for students. This directly contributes on increasing students' learning interest and motivation in honing their self-reliance and life skills.

Abstract

This research aims to compare the education systems in Indonesia and Singapore in order to identify the fundamental differences, strengths and weaknesses of each system. The research method used in this paper is a literature review which emphasizes the study of appropriate literature as an analytical tool for the issues raised in this research. Data sources include books, journals, papers, articles and other scientific works that are relevant to the object of this research. The results of this research show that Singapore has a more structured and standardized education system with a focus on the quality of the learning process, as well as the development of 21st century skills. In addition, a strict teacher selection and training system as well as adequate facilities and infrastructure also support the effectiveness of learning in Singapore. On the other hand, the education system in Indonesia has made various improvements, including curriculum reform and increasing teacher competency. This comparison reveals that although both countries have the same goal of improving the quality of education, the approaches used differ significantly. This research is expected to provide insight for policy makers and education practitioners in developing more effective strategies to improve the quality of education in Indonesia, by learning from the best practices implemented in Singapore.

Communication skill is one of the fundamental skill which needed in everyday life, both in academic and social contexts. Communication skill cover a variety of aspects, including the ability to convey ideas clearly, listen well, interact with others effectively, and use language appropriately. This skill is also found in the skill of being persuasive to other people. However, based on observations in the field, it was found that the majority of 6thGrade Students at UPT SD Negeri 192 Gresik did not understand the correct use of persuasive sentences. From these problems, an appropriate technique, method, strategy or learning model is needed to develop persuasive communication skill in students. A connected type of integrated learning model can be chosen to develop these skills. This research method uses a qualitative approach with research subjects of 25 students. Based on the results of research conducted through observation, documentation and interviews, it can be concluded that the application of the connected learning model has proven effective in improving students' communication skills. Students show significant development in their ability to convey ideas, argue logically, and use persuasive language. The connected learning model encourages collaboration between students through group assignments and discussions. This not only improves their speaking and listening skills, but also strengthens their ability to work in a team, share ideas, and give and receive feedback constructively so that their communication skills are well honed.
