Abstract

Abstract

Mudskipper is amphibious fish that inhabited sandy beaches, mudflat, and mangrove areas. This fish is euryhaline because of its tolerance to varying salinity as well as pH, temperature, conductivity, and dissolved oxygen. This study aimed to identify the taxonomy status of mudskipper in Banua Pangka Mangrove Ecotourism, Seta-Seta Beach, and Masiae River, it was expected to be additional information used as a basis for management and benefaction in taxonomic and ecological aspects. The sampling method of this study was purposive sampling. Morphological identification was carried out by observing morphometric and meristic character. The result found two mudskipper species from three sampling sites, namely Periophthalmus argentilineatus and Periophthalmodon freycineti. Water quality parameter values at three sampling locations were within the optimal range for mudskipper species according to the previous study. The temperatures ranged from 28-33 Celsius, the dissolved oxygen ranged from 2.04-6.74 mg/L, the pH ranged from 6.57-7.1, conductivity ranged from 3.47-41.2 mS/cm, and the salinity ranged from 1.7-2.58 per-mille.

Abstract

Abstract

The diversity of medicinal plants in Indonesia reflects the biological and cultural wealth that has been passed down from generation to generation. This study aims to identify the types of medicinal plants, the parts that are used, how they are obtained, and the methods of processing medicinal plants used in traditional medicine in Ancu Village, Kajuara District, Bone Regency. The research method used was descriptive qualitative with an ethnobotanical approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation of 45 respondents consisting of sanro, community leaders, and local residents. The results showed that there were 55 species of medicinal plants from 35 families, with the Myrtaceae and Zingiberaceae families being the most widely used. The most commonly used parts of the plants were leaves (57%), followed by fruit (16%), rhizomes (11%), and stems (7%). The methods of obtaining medicinal plants included cultivation (67%), wild growth (15%), purchase at the market (11%), and collection from gardens (7%). Knowledge about medicinal plants is mostly obtained from traditional healers (83%) and neighbors/relatives (17%). This study is expected to serve as a basis for the preservation of local knowledge and the sustainable development of medicinal plants. Keywords: Ethnobotany, medicinal plants, traditional medicine, sanro, biodiversity.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify and describe the diversity of fish species sold at Paccing Market, Awangpone District, Bone Regency, through morphological identification. The research was conducted on June 26 and July 4 using a qualitative descriptive approach with purposive sampling techniques. Primary data were obtained through direct field observations, while secondary data were collected from relevant literature sources. The results revealed seven fish species originating from different aquatic habitats, including Chanos chanos, Oreochromis niloticus, Rastrelliger brachysoma, Mugil cephalus, Katsuwonus pelamis, Pennahia macrocephalus, and Sardinella gibbosa. Each species exhibits distinctive morphological characteristics as adaptations to its specific environment. These findings indicate that Paccing Market serves as a marketing site for diverse fish resources, reflecting the high potential for fish diversity in Bone Regency, which is supported by relatively stable oceanographic conditions and active community fishing practices. Therefore, sustainable management and utilization of these fisheries resources are essential to maintain ecological balance and economic continuity
