Abstract

Motor arus searah (DC) merupakan salah satu aktuator yang banyak digunakan pada sistem kendali karena kemampuannya dalam memberikan respon kecepatan yang cepat dan mudah dikendalikan. Namun, perubahan beban dan gangguan eksternal dapat menyebabkan kecepatan motor tidak stabil. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan sistem pengendali yang mampu mempertahankan kecepatan motor sesuai dengan nilai referensi yang diinginkan. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan simulasi sistem pengendali kecepatan motor DC menggunakan pengendali Proportional-Integral (PI) berbasis perangkat lunak MATLAB/Simulink. Nilai setpoint yang digunakan sebesar 250 sebagai referensi kecepatan. Simulasi dilakukan untuk menganalisis kinerja pengendali PI dalam memperbaiki respon dinamis motor DC, meliputi waktu naik (rise time), waktu tunak (settling time), serta kesalahan keadaan tunak (steady-state error). Hasil simulasi menunjukkan bahwa pengendali PI mampu mengatur kecepatan motor DC secara efektif dengan respon yang stabil, kesalahan keadaan tunak yang kecil, dan waktu tunak yang relatif cepat. Kata Kunci: Motor DC, Pengendali PI, MATLAB/Simulink, Sistem Kendali Kecepatan, Respon Dinamis.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the characteristics and distribution of electric fields in the 275 kV transmission line insulator owned by PT. Indonesia Asahan Aluminum (INALUM) uses a Positron Insulator Tester. The background of this research departs from the importance of insulator maintenance as a vital component in maintaining the reliability of the extra-high voltage transmission system (SUTET). The method used is experimental by taking direct measurements on several randomly selected transmission towers in the field without shutting down the system. The measurement data is analyzed to determine the magnitude of the electric field and detect anomalies in the voltage distribution in each insulator piece. The measurement results showed that the highest electric field value was in the insulator chip closest to the voltage conductor, while the lowest value was found in the chip close to the tower structure. The non-linear distribution pattern of the electric field indicates a potential decline in insulator quality. The results of this study prove that the use of the Positron Insulator Tester is effective in detecting insulator conditions quickly and safely, so that it can be a reference in the preventive maintenance program of high-voltage transmission networks.

Abstract

Konverter DC-DC tipe buck-boost banyak digunakan pada sistem daya karena kemampuannya untuk menaikkan maupun menurunkan tegangan sesuai kebutuhan beban. Namun, pada aplikasi yang membutuhkan rentang pengaturan tegangan yang lebih luas serta stabilitas yang tinggi, konfigurasi satu tahap seringkali tidak mencukupi. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini mengevaluasi respon dinamis konverter cascaded buck-boost tiga unit menggunakan pendekatan simulasi pada MATLAB/Simulink. Setiap unit konverter dihubungkan secara seri untuk meningkatkan fleksibilitas pengaturan tegangan keluaran. Analisis dilakukan dengan mengamati perubahan tegangan keluaran terhadap variasi duty cycle dan pembebanan untuk menilai karakteristik transien dan kestabilan sistem. Hasil simulasi menunjukkan bahwa konfigurasi cascaded mampu menghasilkan tegangan keluaran yang stabil dengan respon transien yang terkendali, meskipun sensitivitas terhadap variasi duty cycle meningkat seiring bertambahnya jumlah tahap. Dengan demikian, topologi cascaded buck-boost tiga unit dapat diterapkan pada sistem tenaga DC yang membutuhkan pengaturan tegangan adaptif dan luas. Abstract

This study analyzes the coordination of protection relays against short-circuit faults in a 20 kV distribution system using ETAP software. The research includes system modeling, short-circuit analysis, relay setting determination, and Time Current Characteristic (TCC) simulation. The results show that relay coordination meets IEC 60255 standards with a 0.3–0.5 second time margin, and fault currents are within safe limits according to IEC 60909. The protection system operates quickly, selectively, and reliably in fault isolation.

Abstract

. This Industrial Internship was carried out at PT. Pertamina Hulu Energi Ogan Komering, focusing on the implementation of preventive maintenance on the electrical system, particularly the generator and Power Generation Unit (PGU) panel. The objectives of this activity were to understand the application of preventive maintenance, analyze the condition and performance of the electrical system, and evaluate the effectiveness of the maintenance program in ensuring operational reliability. The method included visual inspections, electrical parameter measurements (voltage, current, temperature, and battery voltage), as well as protection function and cooling system testing. Measurement data collected over 30 days indicated that the system operated within normal limits, with phase-to-phase voltages ranging from 375–389 V, phase currents between 23–26 A, and component temperatures between 26–27°C. The evaluation results showed that preventive maintenance successfully reduced the risk of sudden failures, extended equipment lifespan, and maintained electrical distribution efficiency. The implementation of this program proved effective in enhancing system reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting smooth oil and gas production operations within the company.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the condition of the isolation resistance and contact resistance of the 150 kV Bus A Selayang 1 Conductor Separator (PMS) at the Paya Geli Substation as part of the 2 and 5 year HAR maintenance program. Insulation resistance testing was performed using a TENTECH insulation tester with a test voltage of 3 kV DC, while contact resistance was measured using a micro-ohmmeter with an injection current of 100 A in accordance with KEPDIR 0520-2.K/DIR/2014. The test results showed that the insulation resistance was in the order of hundreds of gigaohms with a leakage current of around 10⁻⁹ A, so that all phases met the minimum limit of 0.5 GΩ. The contact resistance values of 43.24 µΩ, 27.09 µΩ, and 35.90 µΩ were also below the 100 µΩ threshold with very small power loss, so that the 150 kV PMS was declared to be in very good condition and operational and supported power transmission reliability, but still required periodic monitoring and maintenance to prevent performance degradation in the future.

Abstract

Electric power distribution networks generally receive energy after passing through the transmission system and function to step down and deliver voltage to end consumers. Throughout this delivery process, distribution networks are vulnerable to various disturbances, one of which is voltage drop, which can degrade power quality and disrupt system operational stability. This study aims to address voltage drop issues in distribution networks by applying the Optimal Capacitor Placement (OCP) method. OCP is used to determine the optimal locations and capacities of capacitors to improve voltage profiles, reduce power losses, and enhance the power factor. The research approach includes single-phase distribution network modeling, numerical simulations of loads and operating conditions, and performance evaluation before and after capacitor installation. The analysis focuses on voltage parameters, power losses, power factor, and operational stability in critical network segments. The results show that optimal capacitor placement can stabilize voltage within operational standards, reduce voltage fluctuations, and improve energy distribution efficiency.

Abstract

Medium-voltage (20 kV) power distribution systems are highly susceptible to short-circuit faults and single line-to-ground faults. To ensure system reliability and supply continuity, a protection scheme that is selective, fast, and adaptive to real network conditions is essential. This study aims to design a protection system based on Overcurrent Relays (OCR) and Ground Fault Relays (GFR) using the ETAP 19.0.1 software. The methodology includes single-line system modeling, fault simulations, and analysis of Time-Current Characteristic (TCC) curves and relay selectivity. Simulation results indicate that all relays operate within a selective time range (0.12 s – 0.65 s) without curve overlaps. The minimum selectivity factor (Ks) achieved is 2.1, exceeding the standard threshold of 1.8 for isolated-neutral systems. The proposed design provides reliable protection against high-resistance faults and is suitable for practical implementation in Indonesia’s distribution networks.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menyajikan analisis komprehensif mengenai karakteristik dinamik mesin listrik, khususnya motor induksi tiga fasa, melalui metode literature review sistematis terhadap delapan publikasi ilmiah yang relevan. Motor induksi merupakan mesin yang paling banyak digunakan di sektor industri karena ketangguhan, konstruksi sederhana, serta kebutuhan perawatan yang rendah. Namun demikian, perilaku dinamik motor ini sangat kompleks karena dipengaruhi oleh sifat nonlinier parameter elektromagnetik, perubahan beban mekanik, dan variasi kondisi operasi. Pemahaman terhadap karakteristik dinamik tersebut menjadi sangat penting mengingat motor induksi sering beroperasi dalam kondisi transien seperti starting, perubahan beban mendadak, variasi frekuensi suplai, dan ketidakseimbangan tegangan, yang dapat memengaruhi arus, torka, kecepatan rotor, hingga stabilitas sistem secara keseluruhan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa kondisi starting dapat menghasilkan arus masuk yang jauh melebihi arus nominal disertai torka awal yang tinggi, sehingga menuntut adanya pemodelan dinamik yang akurat dan pengaturan proteksi yang tepat. Studi-studi yang menggunakan pemodelan dq0 membuktikan bahwa pendekatan matematis ini efektif dalam memetakan interaksi transien antara arus stator, fluks rotor, dan torka elektromagnetik. Variasi frekuensi suplai dari 50 Hz ke 60 Hz terbukti menghasilkan perubahan signifikan pada torka steady-state, durasi transien, dan potensi kenaikan temperatur motor. Sementara itu, variasi beban menunjukkan pengaruh besar terhadap konsumsi energi, profil torka–kecepatan, serta waktu penyetelan menuju keadaan mantap. Sintesis dari seluruh temuan menunjukkan bahwa performa dinamik motor induksi ditentukan oleh interaksi simultan antara faktor elektris, mekanis, dan kondisi sistem tenaga. Kajian literatur ini memberikan dasar teoritis yang kuat untuk pengembangan strategi kontrol, sistem proteksi, serta optimasi kinerja motor listrik pada aplikasi industri modern.

Abstract

. This study analyzes the transient response of a DC motor to load variations using a Proportional-Integral (PI) controller implemented through MATLAB/Simulink simulation. The DC motor is modeled using a transfer function and tested under three conditions: without controller, with PI controller tuned by PID Tune (PI1 and PI2), and with a step load disturbance applied at seconds. Performance is evaluated based on rise time, peak time, overshoot, settling time, steady-state error, and recovery time. The results show that the system without control is highly sensitive to load changes, exhibiting a large steady-state error and a significant speed drop. The application of PI control improves system stability and accuracy; PI1 reduces the steady-state error to 1.65% (no-load) and 2.71% (with load) with minimal overshoot, while PI2 provides faster response with very low steady-state error (0.28% no-load and 0.27% with load) at the expense of slightly higher overshoot. Overall, PID Tune is effective in generating stable PI parameters, where PI2 achieves the best performance in response speed and accuracy, and PI1 is more favorable in minimizing overshoot.
