Abstract

Islam is the last religion to cover all religions. Islam as a complement to all religions has shown welfare for the universe so that it gets the label Islam rahmatan lil alamin. The study of Islamic studies on rahmatan lil alamin is very broad, but in general the universe consists of three main components as provisions for human life, namely science, social and religion. Science means studying the horizons of the universe starting from living or dead objects. Social means teaching the creatures to interact with each other in order to live together. Religion becomes a tendency to strengthen the relationship between science and social forces, meaning that social interaction between creatures has principles in understanding all science and science to find the ultimate truth, namely God, of course, with the power of religion. These three components are contained in the Qur'an which has a positive impact on all beings in the world, both Islamic and non-Islamic.

Abstract

The history of the codification of the Qur'an has been extensively documented, but existing research often focuses on philological and political narratives, leaving a significant gap in research on the educational philosophy underlying the process. This type of research is qualitative. This study investigates the educational values contained in the transition from oral revelation to written codex through a historical-phenomenological approach. The historical approach is used to analyze the stages of codification from the era of the Prophet Muhammad to the Mus'haf Uthman, not merely as administrative events, but as a deliberate pedagogical framework for the preservation and standardization of knowledge. The phenomenological approach is used to analyze various theories related to the socio-cultural context of the Qur'an. This study finds that the codification process institutionalized core educational values, including itqan (accuracy), amanah (intellectual integrity), and the democratization of literacy. The uniqueness of this study lies in its reinterpretation of historical documents as a structured pedagogical movement. These findings contribute to the field of Islamic Education by providing historical precedents for modern curriculum standardization and quality assurance in religious education.

Abstract

The accelerating advancement of digital technology and artificial intelligence in the Fourth Industrial Revolution demands Islamic Education (PAI) to develop students’ digital competence and critical engagement. Simultaneously, worsening environmental degradation highlights the urgent need for educational models that integrate Islamic theological values with eco-literacy to foster ethical and sustainable behavior. This study examines the effectiveness of integrating digital literacy and eco-literacy into the Islamic Education (PAI) curriculum to transform the values of tawḥīd into students’ environmental ethics in Madrasah Aliyah across Tegal Regency. The study is grounded in the context of global environmental crises and the dynamics of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which require Islamic education to produce a generation that is not only faithful but also environmentally responsible and digitally adaptive. The purpose of this research is to measure the effectiveness of the integration model in enhancing students’ understanding of tawḥīd, environmental attitudes, and environmentally ethical behavior, as well as to assess the role of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the learning process. A quasi-experimental method using a pretest–posttest control group design was employed with 240 students assigned to experimental and control groups. Instruments included a tawḥīd comprehension test, an environmental attitude scale, behavioral observations, and a digital literacy assessment. The findings reveal significant improvements in all three variables in the experimental group compared to the control group, with tawḥīd comprehension serving as a partial mediator between digital literacy and environmental behavior. AI-based tools enhanced student engagement and personalized learning, effectively supporting the internalization of Islamic values. These results reinforce the theoretical framework of integrating digital literacy and eco-literacy as an innovative educational approach in Islamic Education and highlight its potential as a pedagogical strategy responsive to technological advancements and contemporary environmental challenges.
